Help I think I'm failing

Ocoee, FL(Zone 9b)

Can I get a little helpful advice from you guys.
This has been going on for a couple months
I've been trimming off effected leaves and bagging
them and throwing them out. But it just happens
again. Mostly on the Datura's that is why I took the
pictures of them to show.

I have a datura that has that. Some people told me to look for worms, but I couldn't find any....I'm thinking flea beetles, I saw some very tiny little black bugs moving quickly that I hadn't ever seen before on the underneath of a leaf at night while I was looking for worms that weren't there :-( Plant doesn't seem to be suffering so I decided not to worry too much about it, it has since nearly tripled in size, so I'm still not too worried even though I still find little holes.

Anyone else know what it might be?

I am not the expert on brugs. that needs to respond to this problem, but I will tell you what I've been told. I had the same thing happen to my new brugs. when I received them and placed them in the gh. Several people had had this same situation and believed it was a problem resulting from too much sun. Once I moved the plants outdoors, and gave them only morning sun, the problem went away.

You are not failing. My dat leaves look like that too. Dat leaves are, for the most part thin. Very little is probably caused by bugs and like Tussee said, mostly due to sunburn. When dew or rain droplets get on the leaves and the sun hits them, they act as a magnifiying glass and literally burn the plant .. also rain can cause that, the drops tear right through the leaves and in my case, falling pine needles as well. It doesn't harm the plant one bit.

It takes a lot of bugs and mortal danger to my plants make me pull out the poison. Don't sweat it!

Sounds good to me Tussee and X. Makes sense. I have no clue myself. It kind of spoils their looks for you though I bet, Larcatz.

I can ask Susie to opine on this, she usually has a clue about such things. She hasn't been around lately so I bet she hasn't seen this.

I want to complement you on your posting page. How professional. Do you do this sort of thing for a living?

I really don't think its the sun because the dat's are under cover. They get filtered light but no direct sunlight. They also are in three different parts of the yard and all seem to be effected. Thanks everyone for all your postings I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of this. Till then I've pruned all the leaves again since the main stems are so healthy.

Just a wild guess, but it could be flea beetles. They used to enjoy chewing on my dats and especially my potatoes. After they left, everything would return to normal with the newest leaves.
