snail eggs

Came out to check on the fish this morning and lo and behold - I have LOTS of snail eggs! In addition to this group of eggs there is another under a leaf of the same plant. It was really neat to actually watch the egg come out of the snail and travel up to the plant. I'm wondering if it's wise to let them all hatch or if I should thin them out a little. Any thoughts?

I'm thinking that would depend on what kind, how many, and size of fish you have, also I have to wonder is this snail new for you this year, because I don't believe they are hardy. In my pond the fish keep snails under control and even here I think I would have to pull that snail inside for the winter.

Since I posted the original message I've done a little research. They are apple snails, specifically Pomacea bridgesii, and they are tropical. If I leave them be they will definately not make it through the fall let alone winter. I only have four fish about 2-3 inches long. I think I'm going to let them hatch and see what happens.
