Y am I seeing things????

Mt Zion, IL(Zone 5b)

Hi all - - I'm a Brug newbie and am growing my very first one.... a Charles Grimaldi.
I've read many posts about "The *Y*"....that once the brug Y's, blooms are imminent.
Since this is my maiden voyage into the Land of Brugs, I'm walking in uncharted territory....but.......
IS IT POSSIBLE THAT WHAT I'M SEEING HERE IS, indeed, a "**Y***"?!?!?!
If so, is that little green piece-of-rice lookin' thing a bud?
Holdin my breath waiting to hear .........................

Will do, Sheri - - camera posed, waiting with abated breath.

Hmmm, gets me to wondering, how long WILL it take to flower from that tiny lil' bud?

Good luck with yours! Hope to see you posting pictures of your progress.

Beautiful bloom!
Isn't it agonizing to have to wait for your first bloom? I thought I would absolutely go nuts with mine!
After my first bloom, I (with great shame) bought 3 more brugs, so now I have 5. :)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Kin. I remember that great excitement, Betsy. Your pictures are just great. Charlie will bloom in great flushes for you! You will love him.

Mt Zion, IL(Zone 5b)

Thanks for all the nice comments!. I see another bloom beginning to push its way into the world. Now I see what all the fuss is about with BRUGS!

GardenGuyKin - "cry of a newborn". hee hee That's basically what I felt like - an expectant mom!! =0)

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

What an amazing thread.. Betsy, you are awesome to share your joy with us in such a talented way! I was right there the whole way through.. LOL Congratulations, Great Job. Thank you for sharing! I'm still smiling.

Your in for a supprise , most Charles G are self fertile and you should get seeds . Now you can either enjoy plant and do nothing -- or -- take cutting this fall and try to root them . Save the seeds and try to grow them , give them away to friends or here for a stamped letter .
If your cuttings root give them away to friends / relatives with understanding that if / when yours dies you can get a cutting back .

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Congratulations Betsy! Its great!!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Congratulations Betsy!
Like all brugs, CG is not self fertile. When you want to get seeds, you must have a second plant, but not a another CG. It has to be a brug, which is not genetic identical with CG.

Brigham City, UT(Zone 5b)

Yes, congratulations Betsy. I think that is great.
Dido to what Tony says.

Hello, I'm new to DG, but not to Brugs. What fun reading this thread. Brings back memories, mine was a Species. A couple years ago I started a brug from seed and last year got my first bloom - like an elephant - 2 year pregnancy- HA - but it was very rewarding. Really enjoyed your excitement Betsy.
