Any idea where I can get a good deal on this book? Amazon wants $45 for it. I'm going to a plant swap in October and getting my first cuttings of Plumeria. I want to make sure to do what I can to successfully "raise" them and I've heard really good things about this book. Thanks!
The Handbook of Plumeria Culture (Flowering Tropicals for American Gardens Series) -- by Richard Eggenberger;
Need a deal on this book about plumerias
I would try http://www.tropicnature.net
Contact Suki and ask her if she has any left.
Make sure you mention my name. ;^)
I sent her an email and mentioned your name...thanks!! =)
You're very welcome! ;^)
She already responded...I can get it for HALF that...thanks again! How do you know her?
I met her on another forum in 2004.
We corresponded a bit and developed a very nice friendship.
Suki is very dear to me, she is the little sister I never had.
I have also done quite a bit of business with her and have a few future endevors in mind.
I am also an admin on her forum http://www.Plumeriatree.com
Im glad to have been able to help ya!
Michael ;^)
Also try here: http://www.emersonsplumerias.com/dyncat.cfm?catid=3193 for the book. Also, there is a lot of great information on the FAQ's sticky thread along with a host of links with great information so don't forget to check that out as well. Plumeria101.com and justplumerias.com are two great sites that come to mind, but there are many more to be found.
Its amazing how the information on plumies is spreading so rapidly.
When I started 2 years ago Plumeria 101 was the primary source besides forums.
I know, Michael. We didn't even have this forum two years ago. The word is getting out that you can grow these trees even if you don't live in the tropics! We are helping:-)
Clare_CA, I have heard such GREAT things about you! I think Vossner is your greatest fan. I told him/her (so hard to identify gender on here sometimes) that I would likely wear you out with all my questions on plumies once I got going. I have very briefly visited Plumie 101 and it's already so helpful. I can't wait to get started.
Thank you...I'm really excited about starting plumies. I'm going to a plant swap in Dallas in October and am hoping to snag a couple there too!! =)
Awe, thanks so much, greenie! They are all true! LOL! Just kidding, of course! Nery is such a sweetheart and is giving me more credit than I deserve, but don't be shy about asking questions here. As Bob said, there are lots of us here with some growing experience that are happy to help. If you get a chance and are interested, I wrote a couple of articles about my garden and what I grow and about how I care for plumerias. They have been published on the website: http://www.plumerias.com Click on the link at the bottom that says "Clare's Garden." The pdf versions have more pictures than the web site versions. You can right click the pdf versions and save them to your hard drive if you want to for future reference. I go over stuff like how I root cuttings, how I straighten crooked ones, and things like that. I would love to hear what you think of them if you do get a chance to read them. Welcome to the plumie forum! It's always great to have another plumie fan aboard.
I look forward to reading your articles and looking at the pics! It will be great to have someone with experience that I can hassle when necessary!! =o)
