Fig leaf problem

Ijamsville, MD(Zone 6b)

Some of my leaves look like the picture. I removed all the ones with yellow/black spots and threw them away. The leaves are from a Celeste fig in a container - new to me this year. Any advice out there?

Thank You!

Hello, there, I just posted on this today. Mine are doing the same thing. I am wondering if I need to spray with a fungicide, mitricide, insecticide mixture. I have this product that I use on my roses and it says it can be used on fruit trees. I am thinking about trying it on the fig trees. I have to many trees to pull off all the leaves and they are really bad now. I was hoping someone would know what to do.

Hi - I just answered on your post, annsrose, so I'll be brief here. As long as it is just some of the leaves looking this way I think we're okay. Some of the leaves on my trees look that way, too. The first leaf drop usually starts in September, but this has been a tough year. Some years I've enjoyed a second light crop in early September, but not this season! Figs are fairly shallow rooted, so try to water them with a slow deep soak. Here's the tamu article again: http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/extension/homefruit/fig/fig.html

Mine was going on back in June and it was fungal. Spraying cleared it right up. I emailed the people I bought the fig from and she gave me the advice to spray. We have eaten quite a few figs from our plant - great for my first year!

I bought my first fig tree last week from a nursery down in Homestead. It is a Black Mission fig and about three feet or so and very healthy looking. Not bad for fifteen dollars. I've been following all the threads and decided to buy one along with a Carambola(Star Fruit to most)and am looking forward to the fruit along with my Mango tree which was mislabeled and not true to description. I will be following the fig threads very closely as I have very limited knowledge of their care?
