So much for Brugs going down or sideways .

Tyler, TX(Zone 8a)

Kell, is this a new one. I have never seen one that stand up. Do very many do this. Joan

I like it.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Joan, only Bert that I am aware of. Jeanne has Bert and she is looking for a pic of him to post on here. I think I will see if she wants any of this pollen for Bert. I have to look at the cross tomorrow. I bet RK is a parent.

I have another similar looking one that is very horizontal that just bloomed at the exact same time. I bet it is the same cross. Yesterday I thought I was going to die, I couldn't even bend down to check crosses. I worked so hard down at the plots for so long....11AM to 7PM and it was so hot, by the time I was taking pics, I had limited moves left.

Here is the other one that looks like it but has totally horizontal blooms which by the way I really like. I bet the cross is RK X BF looking at this one.

Even the tendrils are growing upwards......nice picture Kell.

This is so wonderful! Now people who wanted to grow a pink Datura can have the very next best thing. I wonder if the blooms will hold up in rain the way Dats do, or if they will get ruined.

Wow, they're beautiful. I really like those blooms.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I won't be able to tell Shelly for it won't rain here till November. I guess I could spray water over it.

I am going to go down and see it tomorrow, hopefully it has held up.

Thanks Ada. I hope they got darker.

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

who is bert
does this brug really grow this way? how utterly cool

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Elke Duback in Germany created the first upright pink brugmansia called Bambina. Introduced in 2003 this brug didn't stay on the market very long. Maybe the same as other uprights we've seen here in the USA it didn't stay upright? Tuffy is related to Bert and sometimes she produces upright flowers but the same as Bert they don't remain upright.

Bert was given to Liz in Vancouver years ago from an old brug grower named Bert. Bert flowers upright and sideways, almost never down. It was one of the first aurea type brugs around here. It has very thick leaves. I'm looking for a picture.

Here is a picture of Bert taken from Liz's website . I'm sure she won't mind.Sorry about the price, I couldn't take it off.

Kell I love Burt and he has a good story, too. Joan

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

THANKS Jeanne! A mini pic. LOL.

I didn't make it to the plots yesterday, but I am about to go get 10 bags of steer manure and make my way down there. I will be so disappointed if they are looking down.

Joan, when we first all saw Burt we were so excited. That was when there were so few kinds of brugs available.
