Wish me luck!

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

I just received my very first Plumies! Have no idea what kind, all I know is they are red, white, pink and yellow! LOL Nice looking "sticks", bare root so they are being planted here in a few, but they look healthy and hopefully strong! So, cross your fingers and hope I manage to make 'em grow (and not kill 'em)!!

Plumiedelphia, PA(Zone 7a)

Good luck Bec!!

Good luck, Bec! You'll have no problem rooting them, I'm sure. Michael gave you a great link. Also check out the FAQ's sticky thread for lots of great info and links.

Here's a picture of the "sticks" I am assuming they are supposed to look like this? :)

BTW- they already have roots! And the shortest one have a few leaves on the end. So, all I have to do now is sit back and wait?!!

They look great, Bec! Now get them some nice hot concrete to sit in in full sun and watch them go!

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

Good, well the hot concrete part IS a problem today, it has been POURING for two days here, I feel like I am starting a Aqua culture on the deck!!! The tomatoes are leaning over due to the rain and I have a Geranium that has taken up swimming for its life! With any luck and the Weather Gods it will stop raining and the sun will come out!
I did put them out after potting them up, but at least under partial cover so they don't get rained out of their pots!!
All I can do now is read threads and learn more and do some Sun Dancing!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Ah, you are right that it is best that they not get rained out of their pots! LOL! Wishing you lots of sunshine soon. I had to stake my tomatoes because they were doing a lot of leaning too.

Hey Bec!!! So your hoya addiction isn't enough for you huh? hee hee
ME EITHER!! I am growing *one* Plummie (from a cutting) and it bloomed for me last week - - a pretty butter-cream yellow. Anxious to see how yours look.
You've got a green thumb so you won't have any problem with them!
Betsy

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

Betsy, no it is not!!! One can never have too many addictions!! :) Just ask me I'll tell ya!! LOL
Hubby thinks I have lost my mind, animals look at me in disgust and if I ain't working I is potting, deadheading, spraying and watering! I went from 0 flowers/plants to way over a 100 in 60 seconds flat!! (and that is just the indoor ones!!)
I am currently the poster child for "Memoirs of a Crazy Lady"!

Ah, you sound like a woman after my own heart;-)

Eh Becky...we've got medication for those things ya know?! LOL Those plumies look good sized...how tall?

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

Chantell, thanx for the offer!! Nope, don't want none, I am perfectly happy in my little-too many-obsessions-world, thank you!! Filled with too much work, not enough plants and too many pets!! LOL (If all else fails I stop and smell the flowers, or should I say go fishing in the back yard today!! I swear I am seeing Salmon going upstream!!)

I think the Plumie sticks are about 1 foot for the single ones and 1/2 foot for the Y-shaped one!! And it has little leaves!! :) (and some funky little "knobs", this is a good thing?)

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Becky, those knobs sound like inflo's -- i.e., flower stalks -- a very good thing.

I'm so excited for you Becky...I love these plants!!! And I'm happy to say I've only killed one so far...I wasn't as smart as you to get them rooted. I learned that later on. LOL

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

I am assuming this is what they are 'sposed to look like?
The rain finally stopped a few days ago so they are getting wonderful afternoon sun!

(Y'all know how silly I look running around taking pictures of "sticks"??)

You've given birth to baby leaves, Becky!!! Congrads!!!! "Looking silly?" My neighbors don't even ask any more!! LOL I wrap my various plants up in a black t-shirt to take pics...oh the stares the first few times!!!

I had the same concern about plumie cuttings that were outside in the monsoon of the last week, but they seem to be even happier now and the leaf growth has exploded. Maybe it's concidence. I was concerned because I could not fertilize again since the soil hadn't dried out for weeks, and I thought that they would rot.

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Andi,
I brought all mine inside during the errr, spinkles...LOL I, too, was worried about rott

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Andi,
Meant to mention this to you before (Becky sorry for the hi-jacking): http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/608660/

Sequim, WA(Zone 8a)

Quite alright, this an important event y'all!! Did you by the way get the same storm Woodbridge got hit with? I was half way between my car and Lowes ( I parked way too far from the door) when it hit, I had a cart full of plants that was already soaked thanks to overzealous employee's didn't care the lightening was aiming at my head, no, I was too busy making sure my new loot made in the car! I got drenched!! Hubby was in hysterics when he saw my soaked derriere waltzing through the door! My flip flops were squishing!

But, the rain and 187% humidity we have had has done something to the plumies, me thinks they are a growing!

Ah Becky...yeah for you!! Isn't it wonderful seeing the leaves emerging? I'll have to show you my first "stick" pics and now with all their leaves sprouting out. I only have blooms on one...hoping to see some on my Celedine this summer...but yeah, they're liking the rain. I didn't bring them in this time...just tucked them under the grill and ficus!!! It was the cactus that got hauled in!!! Glad you made it home ok... squishy sandals and all...LOL

Thanks Chantell! I was unaware of that forum.

Rest~ Now we are having all kinds of weather, either sunny and hot, or rainy and muggy, not sure they are actually getting what they are 'sposed to, but they seem to be coming along!

They look good Becky!!! So excited for you!!

Lookin' good, Becky! Keep up the good work! The more heat and full sun they get, the happier they will be, but rain is good for them too:-)
