I love this plant too! LOL The cuttings take a long time to root though. I have had several rooting since February and still not finished. This is my plant I rooted last Spring blooming for me for the first time.

Brad , what a beautiful flower!

It looks similar to my Jeanie Moragne Jr. that I recieved from you.
I'd like to thank you once again for sending a very healthy well rooted plant.

Heres a pic of it's first flower...

Dave, it is similar to a degree, though smaller than a mature Jeannie M, and thinner petals. Jeannie also can vary in appearance by the season. I am attaching two pics--one fromlate summer (the first), and, one from mid-spring of Jeannie Moragne. A mature JM also gets huge flowers of about 5 inches wide. Barbados Showgirl is about 3.5 inches.

Petals in the first pic are, first off, full sized at 5 inches. The second is a younger plant with spring flowers---smaller and much more pointy; the ratio of golden center is different as well. Sometimes JM will be very red, and other times more of a rose pink. These little variations in flowering in certain varieties make these plants extremely interesting!

Brad, I also like the way the colors change as the inflo ages....

These first flowers were about 3-3.5 inches, hopefuly next time they will be bigger!

Neat! Yes, very interesting how the flower changes under different conditions. That just illustrates the point that it is difficult to i.d. a cultivar by a photo of the flower. I read in J.L.'s book today that there are something like more than 600 registered cultivars and growing; however, there is estimated that there are 15,000 hybrid seedlings being cultivated. I bet the number is higher than that.
