Look at my great find!!!

Portland, TX(Zone 9a)

Just happened to walk through the garden shop on my way in to WM, and found these plumies. They cost me $4 a piece. Obviously not named varieties, but I'm a newbie to plumies so I was just pleased to find a red and a pink. It's hard to find them at nurseries in my neck of the woods unless you want to spend some bucks--never expected a WM to get them. And how can you beat those prices?????

Hi Patty! Congrats on a great find! Those are excellent prices too. They get them here in the summer in Southern California at Wal-Mart, Home Depot, and local nurseries as well, but they are usually around $10-$12. You did good! Yay!

Wow those are AMAZINGLY small pots LOL
I suggest you step them up a size or two.
Great find, I agree!

those are small pots but great looking plants

Our WM nor the other big boxes ever get those neat tropicals. Congratulations on a great find.

That's a great deal - even if they are no-names they will still have pretty flowers and that's fine for us newbies.

I have never seen plumeria for sale locally. I think they are only likely to be available in areas where they are hardy or at least marginally hardy outdoors. The average "big box store" customer north of zone 9 is not going to recognize the potential of a small plant or know how to care for it and large blooming plants would be too expensive for them.

Small pot is an understatement. They were so top heavy, you couldn't keep them upright in the shopping cart or in the car on the way home, but I reckon that's why I got them for $4. I have already corrected this problem--one in ground other in big pot. I have to admit I was really pleased with the nice size and condition of these plants. I doubt they'll last long--garden shoppers will grab them up. I'm still amazed that our WM got these in.

You were very restrained, Patty. For $4 each, I think I would have cleaned them out:-) LOL!

Tom, I'm sure you are right. The only big chains that I've heard of getting them in are the ones in California, Texas, and Florida. I agree with you that people would only find them in stores where they would be hardy outside in that local zone, which would have to be Zone 10 or Zone 9 under some circumstances.

Yes indeed, cleaned them out and put them all on e-bay save a few
Youd get like $5.- to $10.- per plant on e-bay.
Clare..... you have NO ROOM!!
Where would you put them? LOL!!
......=====> 8^D ====> me laughing HAHAHAHAHAAAA.... ( Im in the same boat LOL!!)
Ida bought every one of them too LOL!!

Michael, you are so right. I would snatch them up and worry about where to put them later! (Been there; done that!)
