I don't grow it--I tend to avoid invasives.

It looks like it. I have it popping up along a fence line. It's beautiful when it's blooming!

vossner, yep, that looks like Cashmere bouquet to me. Bigbubbles graciously gave me a nice big one that will be part of my secret garden...or as my DH calls it, the hidden garden. I don't mind invasives if they are pretty. :)

I wonder if I can contain it by potting it, them sinking the pot inground.

That appears to be a cashmere bouquet. Believe me, it will spread if the pot is sunk into the ground. I kept mine in a very large conatiner and up off the ground. After seeing these plants take over 3 of my neighbors' yards I will not permit it to touch ground soil. My plant finally became so root bound and so large that I was having to water it every day. I started a new one from one of the suckers (kept in a large container) and disposed of the large plant.

thanks everyone for the input. I know what I need to do with, but I'm not telling....lol

I would be interested in a piece for a tub if anyone of you gets it going to good.... the flowers are stunning, to bad it must be kept in a pot.

throw it out would be my suggestion...anyone that would give something like that to someone without warning them....

That is what wash tubs are for - I have 8 now with all my invasives lined up to be really dead headed and such.....

Mostly a natives only garden but every so often...

Are the flowers scented? They sure are pretty.

I believe they are, I think it is a pink cluster-type flower. I haven't seen a bloom in mine yet.

They smell like Cashmere Bouquet soap! I got mine as a "pass-along" plant....and was fully warned beforehand. I use it as a workhorse, covering the trunk of a plumeria from the afternoon sun, a fern bed, and some little flowering plants.
When they get too big, or little ones pop up....I yank 'em out. I always tell people who dig plants in my yard that they're considered invasive...'same with Mex. Petunias, Obedient Plant....etc. The bloom starts out as tight fushia buds, which then open into a full 4-6" head of tiny pink blossoms. They last for over a week or more. A couple of years ago, Steve Bender of Southern Living said they were "under used" in southern gardens. Anyway, I'd be happy to share them with anyone who wants 'em.
I loved it because I was just starting my shade garden a few years ago and it was a show stopper. It's a lot easier to cull than some of the things I've planted back there. So far, it's stayed confined to a small area of the yard. Likes shade, but tolerates some sun.
(Guess my philosophy is..if you can occasionally pull a few pieces of unwanted grass in a bed , you can get rid of this too.)

The plant smells like Peanut Butter and the blooms have a wonderful floral smell to them. LOL They can be invasive but are real easy to pull up. I had some along the porch and we are moving them to the fence line. They block out too much sun for the porch area. They get about 6 feet tall.
