Hello again, I just bought a summer flowering Clematis called Madame Julia Correvon. Its a very tall trellised vine and has a few of the small purple flowers on it.
The tag says that it performs well in warmer area where larger flowers will not grow. This is my first clematis and I want to give it a good home. I'm in hot muggy Louisiana and seek ANY advise of other Clematis gardeners.
Merci Beacoup .
My Madam needs a perfect home.
ssdogwood,
One of the most important things to remember is that although clematis like sunshine on their foliage and flowers, they need their roots kept as cool as possible. So, make sure that you plant a ground cover and mulch well to keep the soil cool.
Good luck,

Welcome ssdogwood!
Madame Julia Correvon is a gorgeous Type III Clematis. It is a tried and true viticella Clematis. Make sure to amend the hole with good soil, compost, manure, and bone meal. Giver her a strong trellis to grow on and she will reward you with beautiful blooms.
