Well this is the one I have been trying to root for forever, no roots but look at the inflo!! Hopefully it will root soon after it flowers.
First inflo!
That inflo is monsterously thick!!
I am amazed!!
Ive only seen them that thick on ones ive treated.
I hope the blooms are equally large!!
Dont expect roots till shes done blooming
If they do come youll have a double blessing!!
And be sure to post pics of those blossoms! ;^)
So they can bloom without roots? It is huge!
Awesome, Bev! Congrats! I have found that some cultivars do still continue to root as they are blooming and pushing out new branches, but it is at a much slower rate because energy is being directed toward flowering. I have a few thick inflo's like that forming. That should be a nice large inflo. I have ones like that on my Tahitian Sunset and Celadine right now. You must post when it blooms. The more bottom heat and sun you can give that cutting, the faster it will root. Full sun, bottom heat, and misting will help the rooting process along tremendously.
That is a huge inflo. It looks like you are rooting it in a vase? What medium are you using.
Ardesia, I think that vase is behind the plumie. What is unusual about this plumie is that it is starting to bloom on an extremely short branch, and it will branch again as it it blooming. Talk about a compact plumie! Very interesting. I've seen this before and even have one doing the same thing. Here is mine below. It is 'Tex Huestis,' which is blooming on a very short branch.
Duh, I 'd better get these glasses checked. LOL I can see it now.
I had just been reading about how some people root plummies in a jar filled with those moisture crystals and I wondered it that was what it was.
Interesting, Ardesia. It wouldn't surprise me. There are all sorts of ways to root these cuttings and sow the seeds. I read about new ways all the time. I have water-rooted a bunch at once in a vase before, and it worked well.
Isn't it awesome Michael, and this is from the one I have been trying to root for months! Finally I know it is alive and awake! I am so excited and I am trying not to be too greedy, but I will cross my fingers that it roots soon! I will post the pictures of the blooms for sure! I am sorry, but I just couldn't imagine cutting this inflo off Dutchlady. I just don't have the heart! It may not bloom true, but I am sure it will tickle me just seeing the blooms as they are. Yep Kell, my baby is living proof that it is possible! lol I was shocked as well! Thanks a bunch Clare! I hope it is compact, that will make it really nice knowing I will have to move them inside as it gets cool here. I have them in full sun, mist them daily and have them sitting on the heat mat, so they are toasty day and night. Ardesia, I have them in a milk jug that is cut in half and perlite as the medium. I have four in there and the other three have little roots and nice leaves coming out, this is the only one with the inflo as of now! The vase is rooting some Portulaca, I guess things in there are really close together so it can be deceiving. Pictures to follow soon I hope!
Hey, I forgot... CONGRATULATIONS!! 8^D
Thanks Michael!
