planting begonias

novi, MI(Zone 6a)

hi,
I'm new to starting begonias from tubers. I
planted some in containers about 2 months ago. They are still so small! They have sprouted but are less than 3" tall.
Am i doing something wrong?
These look like miniature roses on the package. of course i cannot find the package now. But i think they may be picotees.
I have the containers on the south/west side of my house. they are in full sun until about noon, then dappled shade. The soil does seem a bit heavy in the pot, perhaps i'll replace the soil.

Anyway any sugestion? Are they normally slow growers?
I am beginning to think perhaps i should have just bought the preplanted hanging pots i usually buy.

'sigh' Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ness;-}

I always buy the biggest tubers I can, because the little ones produce such small plants. I have a nursery I like to get them at because they have such huge ones, 3 and 4 inches across. Maybe you got small ones.
