WOW you gal's in California can sure shop !

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

So true, Sue and I can shop till we drop or our husbands drop us to the ground. LOL

Oh Sue, I stopped at Orchards today. I got the neatest begonias. I will take pictures tomorrow. I must admit, I am more begonia crazy than I have ever been.

which Orhards? your local OSH or the Lafayette nursery I have yet to go to?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Local OSH. I will take pics later , I am about to go out the door. Tom is helping me plant at the plots so I better go before he rethinks the offer.

I had the weirdest dream last night where I was potting my thousands of begonia leaves. Even begonias I do not have. I have no clue why I was doing it either.

Oakland, CA

Which OSH did you get Rex begonias at? I'd be happy to drive to San Jose! In Oakland, the Long's Drugs on Broadway and 61st? St has Rex and other begonias from time to time for pretty cheap. Sometimes they are dried out if they've been there a while. Usually have some in a front display with orchids and others in the rows of houseplants.

Kell and I both have shopped many times at Oakland Longs, for begonias it's a hit and miss thing like you said. I haven't checked my San Jose OSH out lately (Kell lives elsewhere) but I have too many rexes already, trying to contain it to more rhizomes, shrubs and canes now. Heck, just trying to contain it to what I have which is too much already!
Mr. Hunt is a new favorite, Kell, you get this one too?

I sure hope I did. I love it. Isn't it sinful, I have gotten so many new plants lately I have no clue what I have gotten. If I do not pot up the ones from Kartuz tomorrow I will start losing them. They dry out too quick.

Welcome to Dave's Violetvixen!! I hope you love it here. Have you tried looking in Trader Joes for Rexes? They have big ones for cheap if you catch it right.

Their all Great plants !
I got three news ones a week ago or so from Lauray's. I placed a mixed plant order from Glass Works I think the name is . They said it is to hot to ship Maybe August ? Which does not make sense to me in August it will be hotter. I also ordered some Chiritas and Broms from them too hot for them also ??
Yesterday I ordered some Brom . family plants from another vendor and they have all ready shipped Fed-EX with tracking number.
Is it just not safe to ship Begonias now ?

Powder Springs, GA(Zone 7b)

Violet,

I really had the worst experience this year with GHW (Glasshouse Works) ~ almost 3 months from order to delivery!! Excuses out the ying-yang for their delays but growers in CT and NY had no problems.

Not sure if I would order from them again even though I've had pretty (used loosely) good luck with them in the past.

Thanks Butch,
I order from Lauray's on Wednesday had my order Friday !
Yesterday afternoon I order some beautiful plants from the Brom family. They have already been shipped Fed-Ex. I am going to stick with the companys. whom have nice plants, good prices, ship in good time, and good customer service !
