Pandanus tectorius

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 9a)

I am growing a smooth-leafed variety Pandanus tectorius in a pot. It's doing great but I'm considering planting it in the ground, about 3-4 feet from my home/foundation. I'm a little concerned about height and root system becoming invasive.

Does anybody have any information about height/roots for the sooth leafed variety? (This is the type used in Southeast Asian cooking.)

Thanks!

I have seen what I THINK is this species growing at the Huntington (nearly 20' tall, but in full shade). The root system in our climate is less of a concern than it might be in a tropical environtment... but either way, most of this plant's root system seems to be above ground there, and below here... but I have not heard of problems with invasiveness with Pandans here in So Cal (mostly folks grow P utilis, a much more colorful and beefier variety). They certainly aren't as invasive/damaging as roots belonging to most trees, but probably more so than most palm roots are.
