Been seeing these lately on my bachelor buttons. They are about dime sized. They don't look like cuc beetles or Japanese Beetles.
Thanks for looking.
CLOSED: Who's this little feller on my Bachelor Buttons?
It's an immature stink bug of some sort. I'm sure an expert will come along with an exact ID fairly quickly.
Are they actually stinky? Gross. I picked it up with my bare hands.
Hi. The beetle is a shield bug and is a full grown adult. There are many different species specific to certain plants.
Thank you so much Veshengo! I LOVE DG! Subscribing to Dave's Garden is the best $15.00 I've ever spent on my garden and I won't be renewing any of my magazine subscriptions next year!
Yep. Alarm them and they STINK! Here it is. Green Stink Bug nymph. http://ipm.ncsu.edu/cotton/insectcorner/photos/stinkbug.htm
Thats the guy! Excellent link Agrinerd! I read that they emit a sweet-smelling stink. After I handled the bug, I kept swearing I had a wierd perfume on me and got all bugged out and had to go take a shower immediately!
