Help with glads, please.

San Diego, CA

This is the first year I've planted glads. They were beyond beautiful in bloom, but now they're finished blooming and I have cut the flower stalks off as directed by one of my garden books. I'm wondering if I can cut the rest of the foliage to the ground since it's pretty unattractive in my flower beds. I'm in SoCal, so I don't have to dig the bulbs. I'd appreciate any advice you can give me on this since I haven't found any info any place else.

By the way, I bought 2 bags of these bulbs at Costco for a fairly good price and 4 bags of 10 bulbs in each bag at the 99 Cent store. Although the ones at the 99 Cent store were the usual colors and nothing fancy, they were just as spectacular as the ones from Costco and just a tiny bit smaller bulb size. Amazing, huh?

You need to let them die down and be ugly in the garden if you want to enjoy them again as beautiful as this year. If you can not stand the looks of it now, then cut them down to the ground and have a lot lesser show (if a show at all) next year.
