Giant Dog eating Flower!

Lake Charles, LA

I bought this plant at K -Mart and it did not have a tag. The sales lady said she thought it needed more care than a regular Hibiscus. I live the in South Lousiana and Hibiscus are easy care , I hope this is a hardy plant. Can anyone help me out with information? thanks, sdogwood

Yes, I think the black and white hibiscus in the picture will need more care than a regular one. I suggest feeding it once or twice daily and give it plenty of water and don't forget to take it for walks! Oh, you mean that beautiful fuschia one! I don't know what its name is, but it's one that's in the mallow family. I find them even easier than the tropical ones - lots of sun and lots of water. I fertilize mine also. Actually, you really treat them all about the same. It dies back in the winter then I cut mine back early March and let 'er rip for another season of beautiful blooms. I wouldn't cut the black and white one back though as it might bite! LOL. You can also overwinter it in the garage or basement with barely any water then bring it back out about the middle of March, cut it back and go again.

Tell pup to smile next time you're taking a picture.

Your hibiscus looks a lot like one I got at WM about 6 yrs ago. It comes back every year and blooms like crazy. Right now it is about 3ft tall and wide. The color is really a much darker red, almost maroon. I'll post a pic of mine. p.s. love your dog.

Where do people come up with these beautiful bargins? I guess I don't shop as much as I should.

The bloom is beautiful. I tried 3 in pots this year, am looking forward to seeing what they will do.

The black and white is called Jenny. She is a ten year old therapy dog, needs constant companionship, fresh water and the very best food. Loves to wear clothes. LOL!
