Those of you who use the colorful dragonfly/butterfly clips...which colors do you like best?
dark vs. light?

PURPLE dragonfly... :)
I like the light pastels myself.
Where do you get them?
green
I don't have any but I would go for the lighter colours.

Purple and Green :~)
I like everything except green and yellow. Why, you may ask??? Because when I glance at my green goddesses, I see pretty little dashes of color & I feel like I have blooms all year 'round. Yes, I realize I am a nerd, but you asked!
Ann
AH...interesting. So, no pinks? I kinda like the yellows too...sort of go with the "I got flowers neurosis"....
Oh, yeah. I like the pinks and purples (and the occasional orange too)! I don't like the green and yellow because they fade into the plant.
I like the variety - I like looking at my plants and seeing some color - BECAUSE I HAVE NO BUDS!!! :0(
(Seriously, I do like having a variety of colors to put all over the plants!)

I know this sounds crazy, but I like the clear ones. It's the minimalist in me. Need the functionality of the clip but want it to blend in. Pink is probably my least favorite.
Ok I have to say..I don't use them at all :)
I am with Nightbloomer :) I use see through wire stuff so it blends in :)
I love the pink/purple!!
I have them and use all the colors! =0)
I love all the colors. In fact now that I am talking about them, I need to order some more. :)))))))
I love the pretty pastel clips and love using all the colors. They help make the plant come alive while waiting for some Blooms.
I got them from Carol from my last order from her along with the bamboo hoops which I love and a couple more Hoya's.
Margie
I like all the colors and I love the little butterfly clips, but I also went out and bought mini hair clips in super-bright colors. I like them because I can find them easier on the plants. I like the little splash of color, too.

Hey Carol;
As the lady who can verify that I have bought literally hundreds of the clips from you, (some are dragonfly). I LOVE them all, every color! I use them for color coding what needs to be done with my plants, as well as taming those wild vines that want to wrap around everything in my greenhouse. For instance, I use the purple ones on the plant hanger itself to remind me that this plant doesn't need water today but be sure to check it tomorrow. The dark green ones I use to remind me that it's time to spray the leaves with Super Thrive or Hormex. I use the pink ones on the stems of the bush type plants (H. odorata, H. cummingiana, H. paziae etc.) to force them to cascade, instead of growing straight up. That little bit of extra weight will gently pull the stems down as the plant grows. You get the picture!.
Ann
Ann, your very informative post just serves to remind me what a truly unorganized amatuer I really am! Thanks for the great tips. Please hang in here with us!

Ann What a wonderful idea you have given us for yet another use of the darling clips. The color coding is such a good thing to help me and others to be more organized and to help remember the important watering or fertilizing days. I especially like the idea with the weighting down the Hoya to grown downwards instead of vineing.
Thank you for all your valuable information.
Margie
Very cool advice, Ann!
Carol, I like the dragonfly's better than the butterfly's - the little tail is useful to shove wayward new vines behind until they are old enough to be tamed by the clip.

I have trouble remembering DATES....even my name....so I use the clips to clip little notes to the pot or the hanger: "check roots in 2 weeks", "grow dry".... sometimes I am not the only one in there !!!!
I received my first clips on plants received last week.
I haven't decided whether I like them or not (I'm leaving them on, though) as seeing them 'tricks' me.....I think for a split second that there's a bloom! LOL!! (Even though I know better!)
I usually like green for such things, so they'll 'blend in'....but the pink is 'growing on me'.
I don't have any purple ones, but purple is my favorite color.
I LOVE the blue bumble bee's found them at a orchid show, they are a little larger than the butterflies,I use them for large vines..
Dianne
Ooooh, that's what I need, Dianne. The cute clips from the Pimpette are great for the thinner trellises, but I need something bigger for those bamboo ones. Oh Carolllllllllll.....
Oh blue bumble bees :) I went to walmart and bought the bigger hair clippy ones for my bigger bamboo ones, can't be cramping those vines style..
I have used some hair things before too, but sometimes if they are too tight, I worry about cutting off the plants "circulation" to the rest of the vine. I even worry about that with the dragonflys, etc. I tend to only put them on old vines. Does anyone else ever worry about this?
MsKitty heres a seller on ebay that sells them

Cool, thanks Dianne. I'm going to check those out.

Oh I went searching last night for blue bumble bees, oh my gosh they have little lady bug ties to, how darn cute, if your into tying.. THis website you can order in bulk...
www.chulaorchids.com
I hope the website works...
Tami, looks like you hit on it. The bulk prices are good, eh?
That is CUTE! I may have to get some of those :) Much prettier then the tie I buy :) though I sorta like to just let it blend in (wink)
Great prices...especially if you can buy in bulk....
Caution about the small bee ones...I have looked into them because they are used by Orchid growers here....they are really small and tight. They tend, for me, not to fit around the larger stems of the hoyas where they won't hurt...and they destroy the tender growing vines....
Carol
Is the Pimpette planning on stocking larger clippies????
LOL..so many of you use clips?
I use the twist tie stuff usually :)
Carol they must have two types because my bee's I have are larger than the butterflies....Theres so many out there!!!
Dianne
Good to know! Nope...just got the Dragonflies.
