H. kentiana blooming!

League City, TX(Zone 9a)

I love this flower. Waited impatiently for a week for it to bloom. Even love it in bud stage. The droplets are water this time, not nectar!

Here's the whole umbel...

Might as well add H. cv. Joy! And what a joy it is. This plant seems to rebloom two and three times in a row. I have 6 umbels waiting to open. Here's a photo from it's first round.

H. multiflora - the variegated one under the pecan tree. Looking good for a change! Thanks Gemila, if you are out there! I started this from a cutting she sent me 2 - 3 years ago.

H carnosa rooted in the ground and growing up a tree. I have been tempted to do this with an Eriostemma like Carol but I think it would be a big mistake. So, carnosa it is!

Awe, your kitty is just to cute. Looks like a little tummy rubbing is in order. Your blooms are very pretty. Hey my kentiana bloomed for me first time this year, it is a really pretty color...

Hi Friend,
Beautiful blooms you have there. Now that is one spoiled Kitty. I called you ,but your answering machine didn't pick up. When you get a chance give me a hollar.

Great photos, Susan! Though, the first one is not kentiana, it's wayetii. You can tell by the green flower stems. Kentiana has brownish flower stems.

Cute kitty too!

OH....so there really IS a difference? I didn't know that. I always thought they were the same plant with different sellers using different names. Ha.

Marcy, that is the way I've learnt to tell them apart. I have both, but my kentiana is just a cutting. The flowers of kentiana is also said to be smaller than wayetii. Having them both blooming at the same time would tell. Oh well, some day...

Absolutely Fabulous! Susan, you're a bloomin' fool :-)
I love the kitty too, give her a big belly rub from me.

I have been told that H. weyettii is a clone of H. kentiana....?

My story and I am sticking to it.

That first photo of kentiana is amazing- so much more alien and beautiful close up, aren't they?

Susan - your photos are fantastic! AND SO ARE YOUR HOYAS!

My favourites are H. cv. Joy and H. kittyii =))

So there is a difference in kentiana and wayetti, I will have to check mine out to see which one I have. I always heard they were the same one, and just learned a couple of weeks ago that they are different hoya's. Thanks Christina.

Look at the difference in color between Susans wayetti and mine, or is it kentiana?
