you know i wondered whether we're allowed to post things for sale...other sites..etc...such as ebay listings of plants etc...and local sights....and i'm told we're not...have we not all done this before on this site? ..hello and hugs to you all..bob
ot question..
I have never seen anyone post for sale anything on this forum.
I've only seen FREE for shipping...
And lot's of times I've shipped FREE with NO shipping. But can't afford to ship free on;y once in a full moon.
That I know of only one person is even selling anything on Ebay.
PS That person also has never mentioned their self selling nor never asked people to buy .
Now if you mean psoting Vendors we can buy from we have them in our Sticky and can share this information but we can not promote sales of our own.
Now On Dave's Thread he does not allow it. He also does not allow people to post about New, Policitc, Religion, personal problems and so on. He tells about this in his sticky.
Thanks Allison appreciate it...i just remember how myself and others would say who had what for sale on ebay and the price etc...on the plumeria web..one person often directs where to buy and for how much etc...bob
I wonder the same thing to Bob.. but it seems to be a fine grey line between us helping folks to find what they want & others outright advertising/selling or soliciting in the forums or in emails.
I think thepolicy intent is that DG doesn't want the forums loaded with "For Sale" stuff or want us bombarded with spam mail either.
Allison doesn't do any of that she just ask for the return postage on what it cost her to ship so she is safe & within the policy.
I guess it is a hard thing to "police".
Is there something in particular that cuaght you eye???
MsC
msc...i am guilty...he he...i noted about the plumeria i have and left a thread to pics of them...and certainly Allison does none of that ..she is the very best...i agree with you about having it turn into a for sale thing...it would be out of control...lol...i like it just the way it is..with you wonderful friends...
I know we normal say what's on sale on Ebay for high $$$$ and laugh and make fun of people paying so high and then we share and get the same plants free,
But no one does it to bid, nor does anyone bring attention to their own sales as this is solicitation
and can not be done on DG's.
I think it is acceptable to mention what somebody else is selling on eBay or on a website, and we've all posted links etc on this forum when something catches our eye.
And it is permissable for somebody else to post about what you might be selling, and to include a link to your site or eBay listing. But it violates "acceptable use" for you yourself to post anything about new items you have for sale, good deals, etc.
A DGer got into trouble over this in the spring with a thread in the daylily forum. Somebody else started the thread, about $1 fans he was offering on the lily auction site, and that was fine. There were a couple of questions about how sales at the LA site worked, and I think he answered some of them, and that was fine. Meanwhile, whenever he added a new batch of fans to the auction site, somebody would post to let everyone know to check, and that was fine. But then he posted once to say that he had just added more fans for June shipping... and all heck broke loose. He had a confrontation with admin, and I think the whole thread ended up getting pulled.
So, as MsC said, it can be a fine line.
Oh, I should add that if you have a web site with stuff for sale, you can list that on your garden page as your "favorite site," making it relatively easy for folks to find. (DG garden pages are where you end up if you click on people's names next to their posts.) But you start flirting with that line again if you post to tell people about your site... It gets a little convoluted.
However... Bob, if you have plumie cuttings and other things for sale, please Dmail me a link or a list! Just don't post anything about it on the forum. (You know, I really do understand and appreciate the reasoning behind this rule, but it sure does make things awkward sometimes.)
:-)
Hi Jill and all..yep...certainly understand and appreciate the reasoning...bob
Why not use the "Advertise" bookmark on DG?
Hope I haven't done anything wrong. I was approached on Dmail about a doilie. I ended up making a sale. Was that against policy?
I think your Ok Nanna you did not advertise . And probaly did not even get anywhere the mount of $$ your talent is worth .
that's for sure!!
Oh you guys are so sweet. Thank you.
Hmm is there a policy about personal problems?
Dmail is fine, as long as you do not initiate the sale, which you didn't. For example, I just asked Bob to LMK about his plumies, so if he Dmails me about plumies for sale that is not a violation. It's more about not advertising yourself on the forums and not sending unsolicited Dmail.

Oh Colie hun I'm sure she thinks it fair. Were just letting her know how talented she is. Now we all know we don't have Zillions of $$$ so we can just tell her how talent and beautiful her work is and Jan 's too !
