I planted some of these from seeds this year around March 20th. They are pretty big now and still don't have any blooms. Is that normal? I expected them to at least have some flower buds by now, but then again, this is my first year growing flowers from seed.

I would say that it is quite normal not to have any flowers yet. Growing them from seed is fun, but it does take longer for them to reach flowering stage than if you bought plants from a store. I am in a different zone to you, but I would say mine didn't begin to flower until probably June, especially considering that I posted that photo June 20. Usually I take photos and post the same day, and that one says it was my first bloom. Another thing - if you happen to be doing a lot of fertilizing of them, that can encourage growth of foliage more than flowers. Mine were only fertilized maybe once or twice that summer. Hope that helps!

Yes...very helpful! Thank you! This is my first year growing from seed, so I wasn't sure. Next year I may just order plants because I'm not so patient! I have fertilized them once with Peter's super bloom booster plant food 10-50-10. That was on Monday. Just to give them a little boost. I'll post some pics when they bloom.

Well, here they are! I never expected them to get so big!

Fabulous! They look wonderful. I'm so glad they came on well for you. We've been short on rain this year and some of my seed-started plants aren't doing as well as usual.
