I have a rather interesting vining weed. I has lovely little purple flowers right now. Leaves are ferny looking and it has little tendrils to climb with. It mostly grows up the middle of my junipers. Poeple want to know why my junipers bloom. But sometimes it's just tough to get in and pull them out. I found one yesterday that had what looked like little tiny green beans on it. Some had turned black (probably ripe), which is probably why I get them back every year. They are not a huge problem, but I would like to know what they are. I thought I caught some flowers in this picture, but all I have is the vine. gram
Help with a weed ID?
Looks like a kind of vetch, like they seed highway hills with.

I don't know but I like it.
Watch out for the snake in your photo.
I don't know the name of it but it grows here in Maine too. It is all around my veggie garden!
It's pretty - is it invasive??
Anita, it spreads, but not too bad. I've had it for 3 years. I think it probably was in one of the junipers when it came from the nursery. The leaves kind of match the needles on the juniper, so I don't see it until it blooms. But now its crawling out, so I think it's time to pull it out and get rid of it. And then I found one in the front yard with the little 'green bean' seed pods. I need to look at the vetch's. I think bigcityal's on the right track.
Vetch? I thought you said kvetch. Have I been doing all this complaining for nothing? Oye!
Dave, I think you can kvetch about vetch. or about weeds in general. Go ahead, kvetch among yourselves. I'm all verklempt.
That is vetch a terrible weed because it can get all over you garden and very hard to get rid of. My friend thought it would be a good idea to leave it because it grew down a hillside below her rose, now she is fighting it with everything possible because they are winding themselves around the roses. I would pull them out as fast as you can, I do when I see one.
I think I'm with you Maria. I better get rid of it now while I still can.
please do grampapa, you do not want it anywhere.
Edited to say,. She has about 20 rose bushes all of them are being strangled by this weed, now she thinks she has to pull them out right down the roots, clean them and replant roses some where else after bull dozing every thing once more, she had it done about three years ago but the weed came back in full force

I'm pretty sure it's $%$^$^^ crownvetch which I pull out whenever I see it. It's invasive!!! The highway dept used to plan t it as ground cover and it can be purchased but I wonder who would ever buy it..... Same with Virginia Creeper....Anyone want some.....I'll share!!!
I've pulled some of it out. It hasn't gotten too good of a foothold yet. So I hope I can get rid of it. That's exactly what I was wondering, bseddon. Who would buy this stuff?
Its in the pea family and its used to anchor soil on hillsides along roads if that gives you a clue about how tough it is!
Well, it is pretty and I know they use it to choke out other weeds (now that I know what it is). I just don't want it choking out my garden.
Gram
We have it here in Maine too, it grows everywhere! My husband looks at and says:
"Oh, this is pretty!" I say: "Yup...yank it!" He just looks at me with a very "Blonde" look and says "Are you moving it?" "Yes Dear, I am.... right to the compost pile!"
P.S. NO insults intended for any blondes out there. Brunettes get the "Blonde Look" too!

Hope you really don't put it in the compost pile ?
I throw those type of weeds in the trash. I'm afraid to put them in my compost.
We have similar problem with lawn Ivy- Make sure you get every piece of it or it will come back.
