Hi. I haven't posted to the pets forum before but would like to know if anyone has had experience with malignant nerve end tumors. Our basenji, Buddy, had one removed from his face Jan. 30th of this year. We were told they tend to come back, but didn't realize how quickly. It appears he has another one forming in the same area. If so, we will have a tough decision to make. If allowed to grow, it will eventually affect his nasal cavity and breathing, eye, etc. Major surgery every 6 months is not an option, and we would never allow him to suffer, so you see our dilemma. Has anyone ever had more than one removed with success for any length of time?
Poor little guy. The surgical scar has healed, but his fur still looks pitiful. His face fur is close to normal, but he still has a very obvious square on his back where it was shaved to stitch on his pain patch. These photos were taken the day of the surgery.
Thanks, Debra
Edited to add correct diagnosis: schwannoma (?) aka peripheral nerve sheath tumor
