Bought a Buffalo Grape the other day. I read the tags on all of them and each had some detraction. Several said they "lack foxy taste". What is that? Or if they had "foxy taste" they we're erratic in output, or susceptible to disease or or or. The only issue with the Buffalo was that it ripens late September. Does that mean, if we have a wetter or colder Sept than usual we won't get ripe grapes?
Thanks,
jb

Do grapes have the same ripening issues as Tomatoes
Turns out they do, but fortuantely the Buffalo grape gets high marks for the PNW from the WSU extension testing in Mount Vernon WA.
A "foxy taste" refers to the "Grapey" flavor that wines made from Native American grapes (concord) and is not positive, however they often make excellent table grapes. Good thing I didn't buy these to make vino, no?
