Does water lilies propatage this way?

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

I noticed a tiny leaf growing like this in my blue water lily leaf that was one of the oldest growths. Now it has died fully. Could not track the new growth. There is another one now like this. I wonder if this propagates this way too, besides multiplying under the water with bulbs. Information on this will be of help.

Thanks for the link. It is useful information. But I may not be able to grow the vivips by that method as I don't have facilities of lighting at home - for this purpose.

This is a better picture of the new growth.

I dont use the lights either .I simply place my vivis in a shallow tray ,weigh down the pads with small stones and fill the tray with a few inches of water . I place the tray in full sun . In just a few days the seed will sprout .I leave them there about a week untill they are developing roots . then I plant in small cups or trays like dixie cups and place in a shallow "grow pond" you can use a deep rubbermaid container .Be sure to set it in sun and that its big enough that the water wont get too hot !
here is a pic of a Islamorada pad that was unsprouted when I trayed it just 3 days ago.

Thanks Teresa. I think this method suits me better. Sun is no problem at all here in this part of India. The pad - I presume that you mean it is the drying leaf - is now decaying almost completely. There are two of them now. I also see a couple more not yet showing a little leaf. Hope this too works a seed.

I found four or five and have removed them to a shallow tray with stones to hold them down and kept that at the bottom of my water tank. I saw one growning now. Kept it 3 days ago. I think it is working. Thanks a lot on the instructions.
