H. chlorantha var. tutuilensis

Trelleborg, Sweden

I thought this one deserves a topic of its own. Things started happening last night. Took some photos this morning and here's the whole umbel with what's open right now and lots of buds with cracks in them...

Here's the little group of three.

And last, a close-up of one flowers. I love the hairy corolla lobes and the "blood" veins. Each flower is a little over 2 cm (a little less than 1 inch) in diameter.

OH MY GAWD!!!!
Oh, Christine that is beautiful (and your photos rock too). Congratulations.
Is there any difference in the plant's likes/dislikes from the other chlorantha?

Thanks for the comments!

Ann, I only have a cutting of the chlorantha, but from what I can see there is a difference in the leaves. The chlorantha has darker narrower leaves than the var. tutuilensis, but that's all I can tell. I have them both in the same pot, so I will be treating them both the same way.

I think I should go and check if more flowers have opened...

Stunning!!!
2 cm - rather big flowers then. That's a plus.

Oh WOWWY she is a little beauty. Her name is just as pretty as her flowers. I fought with myself to get this hoya or not, now I am glad I did. How is the smell Christina. She sure is pretty. Great photo...

Wow and double wow Christina. A wonderful set of shots of a very beautiful flower. Congratulations!

Thanks again! Here they are again at 8 o'clock tonight. They have absolutely no fragrance - I'm quite disappointed about that.

Thanks for the gorgeous update, Christina.
Well, I too would be disappointed at no fragrance, but the beauty of the blooms must certainly lessen that disappointment.

Nice one Christina.
RE: no fragrance, maybe that's a blessing as it could have an awful, run-away fragrance :)

Last night we were welcomed in our bedroom by the nicest fragrance ever! I can't quite put my finger on WHAT the fragrance is like, but I sure know it came from the chlorantha! I can't wait to smell it again in a few minutes... No fragrance at all during the days - I've checked several times!

Oh good. Something so pretty deserves a good scent. She sure is pretty..

Omaha, NE(Zone 4b)

That's awsome, Christina. And now I'm VERY excited because I just got one of these from Carol/Aloha Hoyas! Now I'll be checking it regularly, looking for signs of blooms...
