I'm smitten too. Where is Asiatica nursery?

Carlisle, PA(Zone 6b)

It's in Lewisberry, PA but you can order online at http://www.asiatica.com. I'm so fortunate I only live about 20 miles from it.

I recently bought one of these...they are 'funky-cool'!

How fortunate you are to live so close to Asiatica!!
I'd be there every weekend!

Are this prices a bit lower when you shop in-store?

Louisville, KY

This plant got me into aroids. The thing is it is a aquatic plant and likes it warm expect to lose it if it gets colder than 45f. It likes moving water and can grow 9 feet tall or more. I have a ton of small ones coming along.

Datdog, did you go to the Hosta Convention in Philadelphia? This nursery is only open to the public once, maybe twice a year. And by special invitation. I belong to the local Hobby Greenhouse club and the Mid-Atlantic Hardy Plant Society & found out about the open house that way. Some of the prices were lower than in the catalog & some weren't. I asked if I could order something & go pick it up & they gave me a "song & dance" about it would have to be between 9 am and 3 pm when they are there. I work from 8-4:30 every day. They are only there Saturday morning to water. I could be there on a Saturday morning. Also, there was a guy there from NY who had bought a bunch of stuff and had bought previously (maybe $ 200-300) worth and the owner gave "him" the royal greenhouse tour where the real rarities (as if these weren't), were and we were not allowed to go there. I spent $ 55.00 for 3 plants and I am still glad I went, even if the hospitality wasn't so hospitable. No, this plant is not hardy. I bought strictly tropicals but the lady who was with me bought one tropical & two hardy plants. Here is what I paid for this plant: $ 22.00. I don't know if I got a good deal or not but I love the plant, so I'm still happy.

Buttoneer: What kind (if any) hardy plants does Asiatica sell? The only ones I saw (for the most part) that I'd risk here would be the A. elaitor cultivars they had but I've heard that varigated cultivars are usually not as hardy as the base species though...... Although if they were as hardy as the normal E. elaitor (leaf hardy to 0F and root hardy to much lower... possibly as low as -20, but more research is needed), I'd order a brace of them.

Ok, these are listed under woodland & shade perennials: Anemone, Anemonella, Arisaema, Asarum, Classical Asarum, Cardiocrinum, Disporopsis, Disporum, Epimedium, Farfugium, Hepatica, Hosta, Lilium, Podophyllum, Polygonatum, Paeonia, Tricyrtis, and others. I used his "headers". If you want to know the common names (but I think you already know them), I can include that. Remember, his nursery is in zone 6 like us, so whatever he raises, we can raise. As for tropicals, I have a greenhouse my husband built out of storm windows & cement blocks and I have spent many happy hours there with my plants, when it's snowin & blowin outside.

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Buttoneer I didn't go to the convention because my husband was suppose to be out of town and I have small kids. He ended up not going out of town but it was too late. We went to Hershey Park for the day. I would have much rather gone plant shopping! LOL

BWILLIAMS, that pix you have here, that is a Cryptosperma johnsonii? Why doesn't it have the red coloration on the leaves? Should I be keeping mine in a pot of water? I have it on the lowest shelf to the ground in the greenhouse and it's shaded there.

Louisville, KY

This red coloration is usually seen only in smaller plants as it ages with a lot of plants you will see the color fade. In some cases the mature plants still has very red looking veins. Sunlight may play a bit on this as well.
