What an exciting day! Not only was I lucky enough to be a winner in the Bingo game, but after looking over all the leaves I have potted up, I found my first baby!
The leaf is Optimara Rose Quartz, and I only put it down 6 weeks ago! What a surprise!
Stephanie
Found my first baby this morning!
Congratulations Stephanie ! Lot's of Surprises for you today ! I love babies !
Rose Quartz is such a beautiful plant. Hope the baby grows well for you.
Yay! It's a lovely little thing! Congratulations!
How exciting!! Congrats!
Thanks! It's my first baby, and I really didn't expect to see anything so soon. It's only been 6 weeks since I put it down.
Of course, every time I pass the trays now, I look to see if any more have popped up.
:-D
Stephanie
They will be coming up all over the place now !
Oh, so sweet are those little leaves peaking up from the soil.
Stephanie~ Congratulations! It's a thrill, isn't it? I wish you many, many new babies.
Jacki
Thanks, everyone. I have a feeling that this baby was a fluke, and that I might have a bit of a wait for the next one. But then I bet they're popping up all over the place!
I'm hoping for lots and lots of babies, too, so I have plenty of plants for the fall trade. I have promised plants to friends, too, and I want to donate some to my church for their Holiday bazaar.
Stephanie
How sweet are you, dragonzgold? So wonderful of you to share so much. Your little bugger is cute!

I love snoopy
Well, it's been a few months since these little ears first popped up, and I just wanted to share with everyone how they are doing now. These were my first babies grown from leaf! I put down four leaves of Opt. Rose Quartz back in early May 2006, then kept the four largest babies once it came time to separate and repot. All four of them are blooming or going to bloom, but here's the one that started first.
Stephanie
Way to go, Stephanie. You have certainly done a wonderful job of growing.
WOW gorgous ! So pretty, cute, adorable. Great growing !!
Thanks, Allison!
LOL, I thought I was reading a new thread!! LOL Stephanie, that's sooooooo exciting. Your first leaf baby blooming!!!!
Debbie
Hi Debbie!
It is exciting, isn't it? It took a while (the leaf was put down on 5/6/06), but it was definitely worth the wait!
Stephanie
Well, my very first leaves were put down on Nov. 21, 06, so I guess I've got about 6 months to see blooms from em. I wish I could quit lookin at em everyday..........twice a day. LOL
Debbie
Well they do say from the time you put down a leaf and blooming plant is 9-12 months so yours is perfect timing !
I love when people come back and show us the finish product ! Wonderful ! Thanks for sharing !
Debbie,
I looked at mine every time I went past them! LOL
Even now, I tend to look my plants and plantlets over in the morning, and then several times during the evening when I get home from work. Especially now that some of them are blooming!
Stephanie
I only have a few now and everytime I can I look at mine too :))
Stephanie,
Great job on your Rose Quartz - love the bloom! I've got a couple of babies that I started last summer that are putting on buds and I can hardly wait.
Sharon
How awesome! I am waiting on my first blooms to appear from leaves I put down.
That is a beautiful plant you've grown. I love the bloom and the plant looks so healthy and happy. Nice job. I just started my first leaves in November and they are all doing great. I love watching them grow. And I used to constantly check them....every single day, sometimes 2x a day :-)
It's nice to see the full plant so I have an idea of what mine may look like in 9 months.
Each new baby is amazing !
