I have a purple leaved one. I'll send a pix when it blooms.

has anyone tried to propagate these? I was told that it was very easy but it turns out that it was very easy for me to kill it!! I was told to just take a piece-about 2" ong and insert half of it in soil-and it would root from the midrib, but mine are all rotting below the soil line.

DId it have roots on it? DId you use a rooting hormone?

No, the cutting didn't have roots on it. I was told to take a leaf, cut it into 2" sections and put the bottom part of the leaf in the soil-where it rotted. No I didn't use rooting hormone-I usually never do. I have done some experiments on some plants with and without it-same liner so same heat/water etc and found no difference so I don't usually use it. I can try it with it, but is the method I described above the correct method?

I have had lots of sucess with 2" pieces of leaves stuck in vermiculite. Remember to maintain the polarity (direction the leaf was growing in) and keep the humidity up. Keep trying, you'll get some young ones soon. I find it does take longer than most folks say it does to form the roots; several months for me to get a true little plant. I do use a rooting hormone when I stick them.

By the way, that white one is stunning.
