Need Ginger ID

Wow Moodene I haven't seen a variegated ginger like that- it looks like any number of butterfly gingers, but again I don't know any that are variegated, it's beautiful! You are just full of interesting plants aren't you?

Hmmm... it looks like a Alpinia or Zingiber, not Hedychium. Have you seen it bloom? If the flowers appear at the base of the plant in cone-like heads then it's a Zingiber. If the flowers appear at the end of the stems it's an Alpinia. That will at least give you an idea of the genus.

Looks like Alpinia zerumbet, shell ginger.

I had a variegated Alpinia zerumbet, and the variegation on these leaves doesn't look the same to me. I don't know how variable they are though, but most of the ones I've seen looked a lot more like mine than this one does.

This ginger is called..Alpinia zerumbet 'Yu Hwa Ginger'
