rain, sigh...jealous here. we barely got enough to wet the street/concrete. but it is cloudy. I will cross my fingers for more.

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

I'll keep my fingers crossed, too, Nery! We have a chance of rain tomorrow, Sunday and Monday. It was very cloudy here this morning but sun burned it all off. Plano is under a very strict watering plan right now. I can only water with sprinkler system on Wednesdays so I'm out with the hose watering down all the beds every morning!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Caraboof, your yard is LOVELY!!! Thank you so much for posting the pictures and please post more!! :-) :-)

We haven't even gotten that much rain yet, Nery. :-(

Terrie, I have wondering about how you were coping. I know you have mentioned how high your watering bill gets in the summer from the sprinklers running all the time.

Except for 2 pots, my plants are getting by with watering every 2 to 3 days, depending on the plants. They aren't thriving, but not dying either.

Caraboof, what a lovely (and cool looking) yard! I love the Irish wolfhound cutout. Any chance you have some pictures of your real wolfhound in the garden?

And what is that vine on your arbor? It's very thick and beautiful!

Cara,

You have one of the prettiest yards I've ever seen!!!! Do tell what trees those are in TEXAS that would grow SOOO tall!!!!! Did you have to sculpt the yard yourself? How about the nice patio: did you lay it yourself???? Very interested in how this was all done. Phenomenal!!!

Porter, TX(Zone 9a)

That's so beutiful and lush. What is that climbing up your trees?

Midway, TX(Zone 8b)

You have a beautiful yard! What kind of lush tall grass is that. I do love pretty grasses.

Staci,
I am watering beds by hand and it takes about an hour every morning. Hope we get out of this drought soon!

McKinney, TX(Zone 8a)

Yikes! I was going to say that you really have time to appreciate every little plant, but on second thought, I wonder if you are not feeling just the opposite. I am averaging about 15-20 minutes a day, except for Friday. The sprinkler waters my shade bed every Tuesday morning and then I spend about 45 minutes giving it a handwater on Friday. A couple of the plants (hydrangea and new EEs) are also getting a bit extra on in between days.

By hand for every other day for everything, except for the pot containing basil, one of my Brugs, and the one's with Sweet Potato vine, Periwinkle and Purple Majesty Millet that get 5 hours of afternoon sun. They are watered everyday.

Very, very pretty and lush looking Bravo!

Thanks for all the great posts.

The tall grasses are yellow bicolor irises and some are the white and blue.
The vine on the arbors is an evergreen wysteria. which is absolutely growing like mad. the fines on the trees are confederate jasimine and along the back fence is night bloomming jasmine and lorapetalum and bridal wreath. I have gingers in the corner that wasn't shot but just cut them all back so they will bloom.
Here is Ailish jumping to play with Cara. Cara just turned 7.
