In 2001 I was diagnosed with B12 deficiency. Usually your body can store 5 years worth of B12. Mine stopped being able to take the B12 from food and can no longer store it properly. After having muscle twitches, problems walking and a few falls, a neurologist diagnosed me as having pernicious anemia (I had never heard of it before) and I had just to take extra B12 vitamins, which worked just fine. Well this last month, I was having symptoms again and the vitamins weren't working. I called my doctor and had my first B12 shot yesterday - I can't believe how much better I feel already! I felt like I was in a fog this last month and didn't even know it until now. Just had to let you know! But on the down side, I'll have to have shots the rest of my life. I was only 36 when diagnosed and if left untreated for too long, the damage can be irreversible. It's not that common in people under 60 (unless you are a vegetarian or are undernourished) and my blood tests showned a low normal level at the time I was having serious symptoms.
