The perfect sprinkler

Bastrop, TX(Zone 8b)

What sprinker do y'all use to water your grass? I have an oscillating sprinkler that puts out half an inch of water in two hours, and need to find something better. I've tried the spike sprinklers you stick in the ground. They bent going into the soil. Years ago, I got an expensive oscillating sprinkler, but the water pressure was so bad it didn't work well. The city upgraded the water line from less than an inch (I changed out shower heads in the summer and watered at night to have enough pressure) to six inches, so the pressure is better. Please tell me brand names and where you got them, if they're good. I cannot afford an in-ground sprinkler system, and the yard is not level enough to water well by flooding. Advice please?

I don't have one myself, but I have heard good things about the "noodle" sprinkler. It has multiple flexible heads that you can point in different directions at once - saw it at gardeners.com . I imagine that something like that will cut down on sprinkling the sidewalk while watering your garden/lawn, but it doesn't look to cover as much area at one time as oscillating ones.
By "flooding" do you mean the slow drip of the soaker hose? That is my preference.
I am a night owl and have a difficult time following the suggestion of watering in the early a.m./sunup, but I have to agree that it is the best time to water, esp. in draught/heat situation.

I have a noodle sprinkler and its not worth owning. The 'heads' are hard to get them to hit where you want. I have one of those circular kind that's 2-3' high and that's the best one for my gardens. The kind that makes so much noise is the best for pure turf grass areas, in my opinion.

My favorite is my Gilmore Fertilizing Pulse Sprinkler. You can fill the base with whatever and it will deplete it in @ 45 minuets. It also has fine adjustments for distance that can be set anywhere in the 360 degrees of a circle. Many times I will fill it with my weed tea and a shot of Epson salt. Got it for $20 (half price) at a HGC that was closing up to relocate. YEA!!!!
