Very gorgeous!!
I threw my compacta out. I guess it wasn't a hoya for me. Yours, however, is gorgeous!

Patti
OH MY GOSH YOU GUYS!!!
Those are absolutely glorious!!!
Congratulations
Ann
Oh Marcy WOW WOW WOW, they are all just breathtaking. I love the compacta, and the motoskei, and the heck they are all just beauty's. Now do you leave yours outside year round? Lucky girl, they may have been late in blooming but there making up for it in beauty..
Awanda your lasiantha is just a little beauty too. Is this the second or third bloom for it this year?
Thanks again all.
Nan....that plant hanger on the big pink silver is one of several I got at an Armstrong Nursery a couple of yrs. ago. They are some sort of twisted metal held gogether with S hooks and chain on the bottom where the pot goes. It is great for outdoors as it doesn't rot. However they do rust a bit I noticed. The black ones look better than the white at this time.
Awanda...your lasiantha is gorgeous. I have one that bloomed this year too. I can't get over the uniqueness of those flowers. Mine didn't smell...did yours?
Tami....yes, all of those I pictured here are hanging outside year round. It's funny...none of the ones in the house that I baby and treat like royality are blooming. Ha. Just the ones I sling in the trees and throw some water at now & then. Go figure!
Marcy
Marcy, those look like some very happy plants. Do you leave the more tropical Hoyas outside year round as well? (I noticed that all the ones you have out are the cooler growers). Try pauciflora, arnottiana, and globulosa, they've gone crazy outside here over the winter. They should be even happier in Socal!
Thanks Mark...I do have a globulosa out there, but I kept my pauciflora and arnottiana in the house as I wasn't sure about them. Out they go for next year. Ha.
Marcy
Your plants look great Marcy. Thanks so much for sharing your pictures. I love the third one with the cactus hanging next to the hoya....what a gorgeous combination. I also love the serpens with those lovely cute little leaves.
Sandy
Ah, to live in CA again where weather allows you to leave these guys outside.....that is the one thing I miss (and the only thing) is the wonderful gardening/blooming weather.....Your plants are spectacular!!!!!!! Do you have any Keerii? Deb
They are so beautiful!!!! Very healthy plants!! You grow Great Marcy!! How often do you water the ones outside?
Dianne
Deb...yes, I have all 3 kerriis. (the regular green one, the variegated one, and the reverse variegated one.) my regular green one is now climbing up into my olive tree and trying to root in the bark. Ha. Non are blooming right now though/
Yes, California took me by surprise when I moved here & saw huge plants growing in people's yards that I had only thought were little potted houseplants back in Indiana. Ha. I have been having fun with the gardening and "playing plants" ever since.
Dianne...I just water when things start looking dry or I push up on the pots and they feel light. I have to be carefull with the little ones I have out there as they dry out first of course and are easy to forget. So I check those often and sometimes only water the small ones.
During very hot weather, I sometimes have to water every other day or so. Usually it is about every 4th or 5th day on the big plants. During the winter, the little ones come in & the big ones only get watered about once a week.
I sprayed one time with Messenger this spring (about a month or so ago), and I have been spraying Eleanor's on them a couple times a week with a hand mister.
I also watered a couple of times (maybe once in April & once in May) with a bloom booster (Peters 10-50-10 ..I think it was).
Marcy
Thanks for the info, Marcy...that's just what I *thought* it looked like!
I've seen that 'twisted metal' before on older porch railings, etc....but never on a plant hanger....I like that!
I especially love the 'classic' photo of the minibell!!
You've probably been asked before, but please tell what you have your serpens potted in and what light exposure and care you give it?
TIA!
When I was in CA I used a potting mix for succulents and fed my guys Tomatoe Fertilizer plus they summered on an east facing patio and they grew huge & flowered wonderfully in small terra cotta pots. I sold them all in 2002 after bilateral mastectomies made it impossible to lift them and care for them as I had before..I was busy taking care of myself...now retired & moved to Idaho, I have started my collection again with starts from a gardening club I belong to...my question is: I am using a mix from a local nursery called "Black Gold" & have them in terra cotta pots again in wonderful east light with added grow lighting during the winter, soak the pots with fertilizer added to water, and have no heat in the room they grow in. Why are my pots coated with white blush even as I scrub it off every watering....only water when pots feel light & tops are dry down 1 inch to my finger....any help would be appreciated.
