I planted a pineapple top in July of last year outdoors........
It spent all summer in the sun, but I brought it inside
when November came. It lived inside all winter but
once I brought it outside again the sun seemed to kill it.
The plant is doing fine, but the sun seemed to kill all
of the winter growth. It turned yellow and most of the leaves died
off at their median growth limit...... ie. the winter leaves
died off. The plant is doing fine without them, but it
still seems wrong to lose leaves to gain the summer
foilage. Is this normal for a pineapple?

If it spent all winter in indoor light you may have given it too much sun too fast when you put it back out. Shade grown plants usually need to be acclimated gradually to full blazing sun, say over a period of two weeks or so.
