maypop is common name for passiflora incarnata

Maypop vine is hardy in zone 6b unusual purple flowers with fragrance. Produces a egg shaped fruit. edible(I have never eaten it.)
If you look it up on Plant files you will get a complete description.

Fate, TX(Zone 8a)

and when i was a kid there were "maypop wars" and maypop eating and jumping upon the maypops to make noise. the fruits "pop" when they break.

-South Central-, IL(Zone 6a)

Yeah, and when we were kids, maypops were weeds in the woods...

Sterling, VA(Zone 6b)

Sorry! I'm relatively new to gardening and this forum. I've never seen a maypop before I absolutely love the vine. I wasn't aware it was thought of as a weed.

I have plenty of wisteria vines if you want just the regular purple ones. I'd love to get a maypop vine. I use to eat them all the time when I was little. They grew along the fence row and everybody thought they were weeds just like Flowerlady said, lol. Let me know if you'd like to trade.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Be careful with wisteria, I believe you need two sexes, only one flowers. The unflowering one is just as tenacious and twisty as the nice one but no flowers.
