Brugs wilted? Is your goose cooked? Heat making you quackers

(Mary) Poway, CA(Zone 10a)

We had a freezing contest last winter. Maybe it's time for a hot, hot, hot contest.

Are you feeling well done? Ready to fry eggs on the sidewalk? Your goose is cooked, and the heat is making you quackers?

You've got until Sunday at 7 PM Pacific daylight time to show proof of your high temperature. The one with the highest proven temp will win this little duck garden art. Proof could be a picture of your outside thermometer or from the weather site for your town, etc.

No way for me to win it with the marine layer. Can you say mold?!

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

There is no words to explain what being outside in this feels like. Look at Friday forecast for the real feel temp. and this is only June 14th.

heres our 10 forcast but bound to change day by day. my daughter loves ducks so had to try.

New Orleans, LA(Zone 8b)

Well, it's really hot here, but can't touch AZ. Can we have an actual-vs-typical rainfall contest? I might have a shot at that one...horrible drought going on, go figure. It's pretty ironic, given Katrina...guess she was our allotment.

Because of our high water table it's causing major problems here- since we're basically a skim of land on top of water, you take away that water and everything sinks. We're subsiding like mad, pipes are breaking, and it's unheard of- by far the worst in the 111 years since they've started keeping track of such things.

Oh wait! I think I hear the plague of locusts coming down the road...lol...

Mesa, AZ(Zone 9b)

Tess, I'm not trying to win, no reason why any southerner couldn't win!

New Orleans, LA(Zone 8b)

For pure heat, you've got us beat! :)

Mesa, AZ(Zone 9b)

But I don't want the duck LOL!

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

And it is only June. The humidity is the killer here and it is getting higher and higher......
We have rain in the forcast for tonight and throught the weekend and the Gulf Breeze is coming in and pulling alot of moisture with it so we can have a few cooler days.. And honestly I wish it was alot cooler even if I don't win.

(Mary) Poway, CA(Zone 10a)

It's pretty hot here and the blooms are all wilting, except for L'amour who is in a nicely shaded area.

This is enought to make a person wish they did not live here. And it is only june. I don't seem to remember a 17 degree spam between
actual temp and what it really feels like. No outside for me today.

Contest over. It looks like ilovejesus99 with the 94 on Friday. I've got to go by actual temp rather than how it 'feels'.

Only problem is the weather links change to current weather - Hope I didn't miss a higher one. I didn't count Azreno since she said she didn't want the prize.

Please d mail me your address ilovejesus99, and I'll get your prize out to you this week.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Congrats Sandy. Our temps haven't made it that high yet. Well, maybe one or two days, but this last few days have been tolerable. Hope you enjoy your quacker.

Mesa, AZ(Zone 9b)

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Thanks all, I will enjoy quackers. Just not the heat. I bet the poor little guy finds a home in here in the a/c with us.

I hadn't been able to figure out what they call feels like. They don't call it that. I finally remembered it is called Heat index. I can only stay out about 20 min if that long.

I will D-mail my addy.

Thanks all again.

Blessings,

Headland, AL(Zone 8a)

How bout a contest for the longest drought? Our paper the other day said the last time we had measurable rainfall was May 11...when we had .03 inches!

"You take 16 tons
of flowers dying in my yard....
Another day older and deeper in sweat
St. Peter don't you call me
Cause I can't come
I owe my soul to the water company......"

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Congratulations Sandy!!!

LOLOL Belle! Too funny.

Headland, AL(Zone 8a)

Nothing like satire and parody to help folks laugh at their misery! LOL! Of course, I'm 46 years old and I still haven't learned that there are times when jokes are NOT appropriate. Man, I get myself into a LOT of trouble.... Open mouth, insert foot, wiggle toes...

(Mary) Poway, CA(Zone 10a)

We used to have a pool, which we filled in and built a greenhouse on the site. Guess which used more water - my pool or my plant hobby. The plants! LOL

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

Know how hot it is though. LOL 46 days no rain and in the 90 ;s. Hit a 100 twice.

Headland, AL(Zone 8a)

Wow! And DH is complaining because it has been in the mid 90s most days (but a few days around 98)....he forgets how it got up to 108 the first year I was in KC with him...LOL! Those prarie winds can blow HOT!

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

I am sooo glad to have the rain right now. We were so dry and it was just getting toooo hot. Course here when it rains it pours and we have been having more than our share all over the Houston and surrounding areas. Some areas are approching 12 inches and more just since yesterday. Needless to say there have been many, many rescues and so many cars have been flooded out.

My son travels about 40 miles to work one way and it took him a little over 4 hours to get there.........almost time to clock out.......but at least he was safe and got home safely to.........I haven't talk to him yet today but I am sure he's OK, as my grandmother use to say "No news is good new"..........well most of the time anyway...

Looks like Thursday and Friday is back to the oven.............

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Quackers and I are having the best of times. He loves the A/C in Texas as much as I do. He gets served out of the finest crystal (Dixie but don't tell him) He is treated like a king.

And bless his little heart he came bearing another gift a pair of wonder gloves. I am so excited.

I love the gifts I won, but not the reason. It is raining now and helping out alot.

Thank you so much.

Love from me and quackers.

Blessings,
Sandy ^8^ Edited for typo
