from the post that was on GW. It was really easy. I'm on my way to the greenhouse to get a couple of hoyas to make more trellises.
Blessings,
Awanda
I made a trellis
Very cool!
I saw that too and once I have a good collection, I'll probably do it that way
~off to Awanda's greenhouse to get a couple of hoyas~
Uh crazy4vines you might want to read the "California here we come" post. I have very good security around my greenhouse:-).

Awanda

Hmmmmm.....maybe by the time I get there, Chewbacca and the Storm Trooper will have taken care of each other LMAO
Of course, with the way gas prices are now, I could have one HECK of a collection if I just spent that money on hoyas, huh?
If ya wanna borrow MY security, feel free...
(I promise he's really just playing in this pic...I was squirting water at him and he was trying to bite the water lol .. he's a big baby)
Yep that would scare me.... Any canine teeth showing and I am out of there........ Of course that may be a very good way to get Heidi's attention off of the greenhouse door... Hmmmmmm
oooohhh, too cute!
Hmmmmm......I feel bad..didn't wanna take over this thread..
Back to the trellis...
Awanda ~ please show me more of the trellis you make because I"m gonna need all the help I can get and I'm a "visual" person.I like seeing it rather than reading it..
Nice work, Awanda!!!
I picked up two things of the fence posts
One large and one small :)
I finally planted the monster carnosa outside and put a trellis on that :) I am gonna need to put a second trellis on it also (laugh) but once I finish I will post photos :)
this is such a great and inexpensive way to make trellises :) I love it!
I also made one of those trellises. It is the greatest thing I have used yet. Much better than that spiral thing, and cheaper too. I bought both sizes..the large one & the shorter one, but I have only used the tall one so far. I put my H. anulata in it. Here is a picture. Altho you really can't tell it is bent to angle like the instructions and curves to fit the pot just right. I have the plant in a 6" pot sitting in a bigger pot that has the trellis in it tightly.
Wow Marcy, those look great! And big! I like your pots too!
Christina
That is one gorgeous 'Red Button'. WOW!
Christina
Marcy those look really kewl! I picked up some of the shorter fences at Biglots yesterday, but they didn't have the taller ones, I'll have to check at Home Depot for those. I totally agree with you about them being the best thing since sliced bread!!
Blessings,
Awanda
I'm coming for Marcy's plants too! Beautiful!
Ann
Oh I have always liked your spiral Marcy, it is just loaded with flowers. Sooooo pretty, And thats it I am ordering some of the spirals this year...
I made my own, but hopefully the ones you can order will have a little sturdier wire. Mine is so flimsey that the weight of the bottom leaves pulls on the center of the thing and causes it to look very narrow in the middle. Also, the pubicalyx totally overpowered the australis and is going absolutly crazy vining all over everything it gets near. I am constantly unwinding it from my wind chimes & redirecting the vines back onto the spirel. It is getting so full now, I don't know what I'll do next year. Ha.
Marcy
I am totally and ABSOLUTELY bowled over/impressed with your trellises...both Awanda and Marcy! FanTABulistic!!! Ok, that does it...I am going to HD on tuesday and get some of those puppies. I really need something that will STAND in a pot and not keel over with the slightest nudge, knocking everything else to the deck and spilling dirt and roots all over the place. And enough with Tomato Cages.....
MILAN..Could you make this a permanent thread...or make a thread at the top...yes, Stickey, where Awanda, Marcy and others can post their supports and trellises and the 'how tos' Man...they are so elegant and KEWL!!!!
Carol...GA GA over this whole thread. WOW.
I just got some INCREDIBLE mini trellises from ebay :) I am going to take some photos of :)
None of my plants are large enough for them now..but hopefully some day :)
PLEASE....I have lost that instructions on how to make the trellis you made, Awanda. can you put it up again... My main problem in life is my personal 'hard drive' is to crowded...or is it because I am blond...or....?
Darn it, Carol I never saw the instructions in the first place. I hope she post it befor she leaves. I did find that spiralclimb that Marcy has, I think my eitapensis (?) will look like the bomb climbing up that. I just blame it on a blonde moment..... I tried to charge batteries in the battery charger not knowing that they had to be a rechargeable battery... Gads..... and all that time I thought something was wrong with my camera.... Hmmmmmm.
Here it is......again:-)

GREAT Milan... That should work right nicely!!!
Thanks,
Carol
I may have to try these ideas out as my Hoya collection grows. Right now, they are just little sprouts or in baskets happily hanging around.
Seriously, it seems a tomato cage would be just the ticket, or is there a problem?
Great idea!!
I wish they had figured how to make it work in a 4" pot ...
I used those trellises. It is actually a section from a 'fence' like thing. Problem is keeping it in the pot.
AD...I use tomato cages alot!!! I get 'bulb pots'...like 12 or 10" in diameter, plant a couple of hoyas and then invert the tomato trellis so the largest circle is at the bottom attached to the rim of the pot. I hang it from the narrow end. The vines want to go straight UP....but I try to foil that and wind them around and around.... Works like a dream. I have had a H. mindorensis in a set up like that (16" bulb pot with a trellis) and it loves it. At THAT point, I don't repot...I just let it grow ...... Repotting usually kills it.
