The little noid that could...

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

This was the mini noid that started it all for me~lol~ It was a sad little thing from Lowes or HD. But it's a great bloomer...I love this color of blue/violet!

Oh yeah, what's not to love? That is pretty.

thanks, April. I brought it home and in no time it was looking like a good AV. It had no tag of course, so when I came home and started to do some research on AV, what link should come up but Dave's Garden!!

And the rest is history...

Yeah I did the same thing and was disappointed to find that an ID couldn't be made, but oh well they are pretty w/ or w/o a name!

Beautiful color. Reminds me of Smitten KItten

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Jacki you sure can grow them and save them good job ! Most likly it's one of the Optimara's Little ones .
Would all depend on the foliage too does it have red back ?
Optimara Little Pawnee (8962) 01/31/2001 (Holtkamp) Single medium blue sticktite. Medium green, pointed, glossy, hairy/red back. Semiminiature
OR Not
Optimara Little Sapphire (6566) 05/25/1987 (Holtkamp) Single light blue two-tone. Medium green, plain. Miniature
Lot's of little with blue so cute but can be narrowed down to foliage type.
The Smitten Kitten Jill sent to me is very variegated and girl foliage. Though I have never thought this one looked like girl foliage but is cute and pretty too !

Had to run get my Smitten Kitten to check the difference. I have no variegation in my smitten kitten from Jill and the blooms are semidouble. Aha, one leaf on the bottom is variegated.

What ever the plant is PMcP, it is very lovely. Good save!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

She sent me a little baby and it is all variegation ! I hope I can keep the variegation. Hard when it's warm. That's one thing I like about Mosaic foliage the varigation is stable even in warm weather !
Smitten Kitten (S. Sorano) Semidouble lavender pansy/large purple eye. Variegated dark green, white and pink, heart-shaped, girl foliage. Miniature

cute AV!

Silver Spring, MD

Does one leaf count for variegation? Hehee

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Adorable AV! My "Big Blue" noid is also a constant bloomer, and I love it. Your little one looks so healthy & perky!

Nanna, I'm sorry your 'Smitten Kitten' doesn't have more variegation... the babies from that leaf pot all came out differently! But the blooms will be cute regardless. Some of my variegated plants switch regularly between more green & more variegated new growth.

Jill, don't you worry one minute. I love my plant just the way she is. She has bloomed constantly since you gave her to me. I love the deep purple eye and the very light bloom.

How you doing?

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Jill my variegated plants do the same all the time. So many thing temperture, too much light, too much first number fertilizer, no reason at all variegation gets lost. That's why I like Mosaic so much as it's the most stable of all variegated AV's !

I think at the beginning, we felt that Little Pawnee was the closest. And then Anna gave me leaves of Little Hopi girl, Little Blackfoot girl, and a couple of others (not fully awake yet!)

Thanks for the compliments, all!

Your right jacki we did narrow it down as Optimara does not have many Little this color with your tpye of foliage !

Yup, that's it. How goes the weather down there? We are in the midst of a downpour at the minute. And while sitting here, I see that my roof has sprung a leak and it's dripping in my kitchen! :(

Still, it's a long way from a hurricane!!!
