By all rights this Gloxinia should have gone to Gesneriad heaven several years ago...it has been outside in the same spot..near the house for at least 5 years...every year it blooms...it has withstood some winters of few days of 30 degrees for a couple of hours ...i have paid no attention to it...only watering the jungle...it keeps coming back...thank goodness..about to bloom again..
the Gloxinia that won't die
Oh they are wonderful ! Bob the tag last for five years too ?
Nice plant ! It's a good luck plant !
allison...yep that's the orig tag on it...haven't touched it...lol....it does get some protection being near the house and with trees...but it keeps going...if i move it...am sure it would die..8((
you lucky people down in FL... lol.
I want to trade zones.
My yard with sun and all the tag would not look so good . lol But hubby does have beautiful Av's and Epsicas , Begonias and more growing in our garden beds !
that tag has weathered really well...but it is quite hidden by everything...lol
Key..we may not be so lucky THIS time of year...lol
Bob we are under Hurricane warning here. Up north about an hour is manadory evacation for flood zones and people in moble homes.
very true. hoping for a tame year, and I also have fingers crossed that SF bay and Tokyo will be earthquake-free.....
Yes, hoping for a mild tropical storm or for this one to fizzle before it does any damage.
Keeping you Florida gardeners in my thoughts now and during this season!
Speaking of earthquakes, Key, we had just last month that literally rocked me out of bed in the middle of the night. It was about 3 in the morning and my whole house was rattling. DH slept right on through! So I got up and turned on the TV to see how big it was and where.
Then we had a small one just about a week ago or so. Middle of the night thing again. So I'm with you hoping for earthquake free or at least just little rumblers!
lauri..i remember my first earthquake in L.A......i ran to the window to watch as the world turned sideways...he he....dishes flying off shelf etc..barely an inch of rain here..so we have lucked out...
