CLOSED: Verbascum 'Southern Charm'

Braselton, GA(Zone 7b)

I would love some seed for Verbascum, "Southern Charm", "Summer Sorbet" pretty much anything anyone has to trade...or for postage. I have never tried this plant and it just looks beautiful and supposedly is easy to grow from seed. I have quite a collection of seed, so let me know...Thanks.

My 'Southern Charm' looks like it's just now finishing some blooms, so it might be setting seed. I saw the comments in PF about its being easy to grow from seed, but I think it's a hybrid, so you might have to purchase the seed; I don't know that it would come true from saved seed.

I grew some from seed this year and am still waiting to see how they turn out. They were easy to do but now I'm still waiting for them to take hold after setting out. I have a start of Southern Charm from another gardner which is in it's second year. Really beautiful color. I must say I was a tiny bit dissapointed though because it's one of those plants that get really ratty looking on the lower bloom stalk when it still has many blooms to open. It's a great one for cut flower though! Stays nice in the vase and I can strip off the spent blooms as they begin to bug me~lol.

Good luck on growing from seed. You should definiately give it a go. But I agree with Critter, I think it's a hybrid and I don't think it will come true from collected seed.

I would love some of whatever you can send, to try. Thanks!

Janet, the dried blooms on my plant don't look like they have seeds so far. I just found seeds available at Park Seeds, http://www.parkseed.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StoreCatalogDisplay?storeId=10101&catalogId=10101&langId=-1&mainPage=prod2working&ItemId=2106&PrevMainPage=textsearchresults&scChannel=Text%20Search&SearchText=Southern%20Charm%20verbascum&OfferCode=S1H
and the catalog description says that 'Southern Charm' never self sows. I am guessing that any seeds produced by my plant would be sterile.

That's where I bought mine, Janet :)
