Hey all, I have this Multiflora rooting in water. When I got the cutting in the mail it had buds that blasted (new word for my vocabulary :~) but it is as you can see, trying again. My question is: do you let them bloom while rooting in water? With my epiphyllum you should never let a cutting bloom, always pinch it off so the energy goes to the rooting ( I never do this because I want to see the bloom, but that is what the experts say).
Now with that said, I probably will let the buds open regardless well, because I can't stand not to- unless, it is realy bad for the plant. What is your opinion?
Sorry for the sideways view, I can't figure out this new camera program- something about old dogs and new tricks........

Question about blooms
I have several cuttings of multiflora on rooting in water and most of them have bloomed or are about to bloom. It hasn't hurt any of mine.

Oh wow Joanne, to cool.. I have rooted hoya's in water that have bloomed, doesn't hurt them one bit. And no don't ever pinch off it's peduncle, you really want to keep those. My sister had a pubicalyx of some sort that just grew in water and bloomed it's little heart out. Looks like when she is done blooming you can pot her up. Good growing !!
Yep, keep it in water 'till it's done being a blooming fool, then pot her up (also, this plant is a water, so keep track when it's planted & don't let it get dry or it will drop dead on you).
Ann (killer of many previous multiflora, but doing OK with the one I have now...)
Thank you Christine, Tammy and Ann. I was SO praying that is what you would say! I will pot this little lovey up as soon as it's done it's thing. YEA! -joanne
With H. multiflora...I find it it hard to 'wait til it finishes blooming' because it always has another coming along. I think you could pot it up anytime...remember to keep the medium moist as her soil roots develop...and then wet to moist all the time. She is a water hog...and could sit in a dish of water and not croak!!!
