Lovely blooms, Allison. I have leaves set of B-man's Etna, and after seeing these photos, I can hardly wait for some babies! Ü

Don

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Thanks Don ! Hope you get lots of babies :)) It's a wonderful beautiful plant ~ Mom is always blooming and they last a long time. I kept her when she was in a 2.50 inch pot on my dresser in bedroom with the fullest bouqet of flowers that lasted about 2 plus months. The light is hardly on in my room , shades closed sun outside blinds me, and I sleep 20 hours a day and it was as Happy as can be !
She's in a 4 inch pot now !
Sorry did not send your Alsobia plant in Joanne's first box. I sent her about 65 plus leaves and there was no room. I think I will send her two boxes of plants don't like the boxes heavy . So I will try sending it this week !

This is so interesting. Could all fantasy blooms do this?

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Kay I love it ! Does it bloom like this all the time ? This is the first time mine has bloomed. It had buds and I was going to ship it out when what looks like to me deep purple , it's probably deep blue lol opened . And so I thought how could I ship this out certinly did not look like B-Man's Etna lol . I love it. The other flowers opening are blooming true though Kay was your plant a Fantasy bloomer ?
Fantasy's are not stable . But they say if you have enough Fantasy's sooner or later you'll get a Chimera !
Neither the two different colored flowers or the Chimera Sport has happen for me before, As you can see Mom plant blooms true everytime!

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

This plant was a Walmart plant - $1.97 - gotten quite a while ago and it's never stopped blooming once it started, so I can't say if it will rebloom with this combo again. The newly-forming buds appear as though they will bloom both pink and purple.

I don't know what a Chimera is, but if it's good I hope I get one!

Abilene, TX

Allison and Kay, those are so cute!!! Lots of fun. : )

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

THat is so cool Kay ! Love it. These fun plants are great !

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Kay what a deal you got and what a good job you did growing this AV! Beautiful fantasy flowers and purple! I tell you it's split personality or evil twin or something. LOL

I just think it's so amazing! and so gorgeous!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I think I remember when you got it and posted it ! I love the two colors. I hope mine stays two colors but you just never know.

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

That's true Allison there isn't any certainty that it will stay bi-colored like that but wouldn't that be a hit on EBAY?!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Oh I had to bump this up talking about flowers sproting from same leaf or sucker babies well this was a fun plant different flowers on same plant :))
I gave this plt to friend Bonnie also

Lindenhurst, NY

Violet_treasure, your plant is so beautiful. I love the 2 colors and the dark purples are amazing. I want to bite both of those flowers:-)

Can you tell me what is a fun plant? Does fun have a meaning, other than just plain old "fun"?

And what do they call a plant that blooms 2 different colors?

Thanks
Maureen

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Well all plants are fun ! But this one was super fun as one plant gave me me different color flowers at the same time on one plant!
It's fantasy bloomer . They are not stable many people will not buy one only if it is in bloom at time of purcshase becasue of this reason. Mom plant bloomed true large bouqets non-stop ! I grew many babies and shared many leaves from her !
This was the first flowers of this baby she surprised me first with deep purple , then some deep pink, then some pink with purple fantasy all opened on the one plant at the same time ! She was striking and my " Fun" plant !
KayJones fun plant is so pretty too :))
They say if you have enough Fantasy blooming African violets you may just get a Chimeria ! This would be a super duper fun plant too and special as Chimeras are rare and then can only be progated by sucker or bloom stalk to bloom true. Even then it is not 100 percent chance of true blooming .

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

Mine is currently out of bloom but is heading up, so we will see if it blooms two colors again!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

:))

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

Allison (Kay, too).....Fabulous!
What a sweet surprise that must have been?!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Yes it was great ! Kelly is waiting for her's to bloom again !

Lee's Summit, MO(Zone 6a)

UPDATE: This violet finally bloomed this past week, but the purple blooms haven't appeared yet - don't know if they will - but the first two times it bloomed, the plant bloomed both colors - I guess I will wait and see!
