Some of the brugs that didn't get sun burnt are giving me a few blooms.
This is good old Rosamond. I know some of you more experienced brug addicts are sick of pink, but I'm still addicted to anything pink.
Just a couple blooms
This was tagged as B. Candida Double White when I bought it's Mom several years ago. That one was my first brug, and this is a clone of it. The mother plant had gotten so big that my husband nicknamed it Audrey after the man eating plant in Rock Horror Picture Show. This one is much more contained. LOL
This bloom is a few days old, and she doesn't seem inclined to drop the second skirt all the way. She always used to. I'm holding the bloom up because it was buried in amongst the leaves.
Come on, girlfriend .... don't you know, good girls don't have fun. Drop that skirt and show off!
Pretty!!! The double white you gave me has had no dropped skirts either. Species is throwing triples-go figure.
Very pretty Mary.
Oh no you had sun burn? What a shame. I hope they bounce back real fast for you. I live Rosamond. This is my first year without her and I am so sad! Thanks for the pics of her!
they are lovely..great pictures..
Actually I just bought Rosamond last year. I think it is a keeper.
It is Delisa, I just have no room. I had a huge tree too. Also she is great for sharing pollen. I have seen some great babies of hers. Oh shoot, now I am kicking myself. LOL I tossed L'Amour too and am regretting that too. I just do not have the room for them plus all the new seedlings.
Beautiful blooms Mary. I'm sure your yard smells heavenly at night.
Right now my roses are over powering the brugs because I have many more rose blooms. A couple more days and I should have a dozen open blooms on Mtn. Magic. I'm glad that this one made it through without being burned up and was also glad to hear from you that you are getting Y's on some of your other "special" brugs.
I grew Rosamond last year for the first time and she got huge. Like Kell, I am so limited on space . But if I had the space, I sure would have kept her along with L'amour which was one of my favorite pinks. It is such a struggle every Fall to decide which one's I can't live without and which one's I just have to have. Then the new seedlings fill in the space. I have a pretty small yard and still have 59 brugs. growing out there this summer. I know quite a few of the seedlings will never make it to blooming, especially since we have had such a cool Spring. Some of the seedlings that were put out last month are still only about 18 inchs tall, but I can't seem to help myself when it comes time to plant those seeds. I guess it is the mystery and anticipation of what you might get.
Kell and Patricia,
I have lots and lots of room, 32 acres so just send them my way !LOl
Elva
I don't know what I'll do when I have to decide who gets space in the greenhouse next winter, and who will risk the frost die-back outside. I have in mind the ones I think will be special, but those that haven't shown me their stuff might have to have some tough love in the winter. (Does threatening them push them to bloom?) Poor Rosamond stayed outside in the front yard all winter, but only had minor frost damage. Her pot was too heavy for me to move with my bad back and I felt like I'd already asked for too much help from my husband. Then I get home from vacation and find that my housesitter had dragged it/carried it all the way across the front yard to a place she thought was better for it. She's got bad knee's and I've got a bad back, but together we can make an able bodied person. LOL My husband has bad hearing and my eyes ain't what they used to be. It's undecided which one of us will keep their mind intact the longest. LOL, I'm afraid it won't be me.
