Papa helping find food

Smithville, Canada

Sorry about all the pics, but after reading about some problems that some roosters can be, I'm impressed with the rooster I've got. He's right there seeming to help or standing by. He tries to do his mating dance once in a while, but the hens just squack at him once and he backs right off.

I have a little tiny rooster and I think it's so funny when he does his little dance. He's so tiny, most of the hens are amazons next to him. So his little dance goes un-noticed a lot. I think he must be a frustrated rooster, he's flogged me several times when I'm trying to feed and water them. He's pretty ornery.

Your Papa is going to be very protective of the little ones! If he tries to show them how to "scratch", he will be there for everything they do and try to learn! Who said Chickens have no brains or dont care about one another? Sometimes they teach us good lessons!

that is a silkie, right?

Smithville, Canada

Yes, it is a silkie. I have one silkie rooster and two hens. Along with 20 babies right now. I also bought 3 Columbian Rock X Red day olds - 2 females and 1 male, along with 2 Harco Black Sex-Link females, but a hawk got the one. And 1 Plymouth Barred Rock hen who doesn't let any of the others come near her. She had a friend, but that one disappeared - I think the hawk. The two were inseparable and would walk around the house together all day and go back in their coop for the night. It was neat to watch.
