Saving and planting Allium seed - Globemasters

Beachwood, OH

My Allium Globemaster and also Mt. Everest are producing seed. Anyone have experience growing these from seed? what about conditions?
Do they come true and how long to get to a blooming bulb?
Thanks!

Are you going to have any seed for trade later?? Shirley

Hi - sure - just get in touch with me. I found 1 thread on ibiblio that discussed growing them from seed but the author was Zone 8. All I can do is try it. They may need a cold dormancy so I'm going to try wintersowing some also.

I have not seen any Globemaster seeds, but plenty from cristophii. I do get a lot of cristophii seedlings but never wait for them to grow. I just add new bulbs every year. I have Globemasters in my garden for 4 years now. I add a couple every year too.
