I have a Harco Black that has the same thing. They're suppose to have a red tinge on neck and breast, but mine doesn't have any red.

Sweet! Good job on the coop. Sounds like my black australorpe, she is jet black but in the sun she has a green sheen to her feathers. My australorpe also has the prettiest black eyes, while the others have the typical orange colored eyes.

Thankyou for all the input, a woman who works with my dh gave him the hens, her rooster had pecked them badly around the neck. she had babies hatch about a year ago, she is not sure what they are. one of the blacks has red eyes one had black eyes. I got my first egg today, they must be happy. my dh and I just can't stop picking things from the garden and feeding them. This is fun. thankyou all
