Awesome Betsy! Congrats.
Ann
Betsy...great blooms!!! Is that H. finlaysonii or H. aff. finlaysonii? Just curious.
Carol
Betsy and Ann, nice flowers and photos! However I thought naumanii would be more pink...?

Christina, (first, thanks!) I wonder if the bloom color has a relationship with the Eugene, Oregon environment. It's been really cool and rainy here for the past 3 weeks, and I've had it under a small lamp that supposedly mimics sunlight and near a window. I also feed it really weak fertilizer and add H2O2 in the water. Also, they are just opening up - is it possible they will "darken" into a more pinkish color in a day or so?
Here is a closeup of one bloom that had just opened.
Ann
Kitty..that is LOVELY
Ann - now that's a beautiful picture!
Thanks everyone for all the nice comments! One of my good friends came over last night and I asked her to bring her camera and take a couple close-ups....so as soon as she emails them to me I will post.
Oh, and - I took a couple more whiffs and it does NOT smell like cloves......IT SMELLS JUUUUST LIKE LILAC! MMmmm!
Susan & Tami - - hope you get more buds going on yours. I was about to strip a gear when mine started to blast....but for whatever reason, not all of them did!
Carol - I'm pretty sure it's aff. finlaysonii. It was one of the first "gifts" I'd ever received from someone on DG and if I remember right, the tag said "aff. Finlaysonii". But back then, I didn't know beans about naming (still don't know MUCH but I'm learning) and I just wrote down Finlaysonii. Guess I'd better change that, huh?
Ms Kitty - BEAUTIFUL pictures! =0)
Betz - H. finlaysonii and H. aff. finlaysonii are very different... H. finlaysonii is really so ugly it is beautiful!!!
My H. naumanii blooms VERY pink...it really IS the enviornment/conditions/nutrition that determine intensite of color and even affects color!!! Doncha love the fragrance, Ann.?
Carol
Awesome blooms ladies! Looks like you got this hoya thingy down!
Heather
Yes, I love the naumanii fragance, but I can't quite place it. Anybody have idea of what it smells like?
Also, I am having pangs of jealousy at Betsy's lilac smelling finlaysonii!!! (I love the smell of lilacs).
Ann
Very pretty!
Christina
