CRAWLING NASTYS ON MY PEPPER PLANT

WHAT SPRAY do i need to knock these nasty critters into the last century??

Looks like aphids to me. I don't know about pepper plants but if you spray chemicals on them, you won't be able to eat the peppers.
I would get some soapy water and spray the heck out it. It won't kill them but hopefully will deter them.
Maybe someone else will come up with better ideas.

Ick.. Those nasty pests. Daisy is right sure looks like some healthy aphids.
I would pluck those leaves and bag them up. Then you can use the soapy water like daisy said. I have used safer soap with good results.

GARD,
As many leaves as they are on, i would not have a plant left, lol. i mixed up some diazinon, seems to have stopped them in their tracks!!

bluelytes, I had an infestation on my roses like that! Put my hose spray on "jet" and just sprayed those buggers off. The roses were all in bud but it didn't seem to have any ill effects. Then sprayed with Safer Insect Killing Soap and the roses are looking great. I hope you're not planning on eating any of those peppers now!

KATY,
Peppers HERE?? THIS time of year?? lolrof!! Thats a GOOD one!! Nah, not eating peppers. There are not even any flowers yet. But that diazanon sure works FAST.

Blue, that's a great shot of those aphids!

If they get on your dahlias a firm squirt of water will take them right off. I've used the hose ( not quite on JET which might rip/break stems) on "good hefty squirt" level. A stream from a squirt bottle will work equally well but your 'trigger' finger gets tired after a while if there are a lot of them.

POOC,
Thanx, I got lucky re: pic. Spray from my bottle full of diazanon worked MUCH better, lol, and not so tired. ;)

Ladybugs LOVE aphids. Get yourself some ladybugs.

GWEN,
Diazinon if MUCH cheaper, lol. Local garden center wants 10.00 for a bag. Last time i did that, they all flew away, :( and i STILL had my aphids. So, this time, i trust chemistry. ;)

Blue,

I believe the brown aphids are dead bodies and the bugs with big wings are lacewings. The lacewings eat the aphids and leave their bodies. Chemicals kill both bugs not just the bad aphids and now you have diazinon on the peppers or in the chemistry of the plant from which you are going to eat! :( I have aphids and usually just spray them off every so often when I am watering. I let the lacewings and ladybugs have the rest. The less pesticids you use the more preditory bugs there will be in your yard and the less problems you'll have. Keep using chemicals and when you do get infested, nothing but higher doses of pesticides will keep them away. yuck!

My yard used to have no good bugs and lots of bad bugs. The previous owner used to spray and highered a service to take care of the grass. Now, 2 years later, the good bugs are finally coming back enough that they are pretty much taking care of the aphids.

Good luck blue!

JBUR,
I would not consume the peppers with 1) washing them, and 2) waiting the recommended time between application and consuming. By the time the peppers get here, (if the ever do, as there are NO flowers or baby peppers on the plant), the diazanon will be LONG GONE, as are the bugs infesting the plant. Kocking on wood here, but no further infestions have occured.

The plant would have been eaten ALIVE, IMHO, if I had waited for the ladybugs to arrive. I even put up a sign that said: FREE ROOM AND BOARD TO ANY/ALL LADYBUGS. Maybe they cant read?? Hmmm, lol.

Thanx for the alternate ideas, however.
